www.hardcoregaming101.net/bioforceape/bioforceape.htmThis game was legendary for having been featured in a preview in Nintendo Power, but was never released. A Digital Press thread from 2005 was started by someone who claimed to have found it from a garage sale, posting photographs of gameplay that seemed to be legitimate, but got stranger and stranger as they went on. The actual ROM was found (on Yahoo Auctions Japan, I think) and dumped in 2010. Unfortunately it didn't live up to the hoax (EAT COMMUNISM!).

What was almost as strange is that Musya was the first game published in Japan by Datam Polystar, who spent the rest of the 16-bit days exclusively publishing cute games before turning into a dating sim/VN/whatever publisher in the 32-bit era.

A contender for one of the most fascinating video game stories. The fact they actually managed to find this game after so long is astounding.

The Digital Press thread is one of most amazing meltdown/trolls/drama that's come out of that site. Totally worth the read.

It's always interesting to take a look on those unreleased "gems". You guys have more on the plans?

It's always interesting to take a look on those unreleased "gems". You guys have more on the plans? I've been giving some time to Blast Away, a recently uncovered shoot-em-up for one of Sega's boards, meant to be released around 1991. So I want to put up on article on that at some point.

Personally, I'd love to cover more "basically complete" unreleased games. Somebody should make a list.
On topic, I'm amazed at how the developers made an NES game go this fast. I wonder what kind of programming tricks it took to pull that off.

The fact BFA can roll on his sides continuously without need of forward momentum (like Sonic), is one of the most hilarious things ever allowed (intentionally?) in a game. Also no mention that BFA is essentially a furry Ultimate Warrior (or would that be too obvious to mention?)

Fortunately a Mini Racers ROM is out there.
An Echo Delta proto was listed years ago on ebay but I don't think it has been dumped.

I am more curious how the guy made the hoax to begin with.

I am more curious how the guy made the hoax to begin with. Make some quick bitmap, make the PC screen show on your TV (just use some adapters, it's not hard), then take a photo.

Funny thing is how the perpetrator of the hoax managed to spoof the attitudes of both sides, both the ones who wanted to dump the game ROM as soon as it was discovered (communists) and the ones who wanted him to keep the cartridge saying that it was worth an over-inflated price (capitalists/butter monster). And everybody was fooled, truly a magnificent troll.
EAT COMMUNISM!!!
