Hey everyone,
Here's the short version: I've been getting nostalgic. I want to bring the OPCFG back, but not in its previous form. I honestly feel I'd gone as far as I could in that form, and I want to move in a new direction. Trouble is, I'm not sure which new direction to go in, which is why I'm posting this here. I need suggestions. If I find some that I like, then I may just go with it.
On a side note, I want to have a new site design. The old one is going to stay in the past. Nothing really using Flash or anything fancy, but just a new look that can be easily manipulated in GeoCities HTML editor. Can anyone help out with that part too?
The original will stay archived on HG101, of course. Thanks again for that, Kurt.

How about an SNES version of sega-16? Tons of classic forms of gaming to be discussed and reviewed, and I actually haven't seen a site like that solely for the SNES around too much. Plus, with the Wii VC service in place, it would be good to have a site that can discuss and educate others on classic SNES games released domestically and abroad.

There was this idea I had a while ago (and by a while ago I mean last week) of creating a site that had multiple writers, each one focusing on one particular facet of gaming that they were familiar with. The idea being that there would be no such thing as an article in which the writer had no idea what he/she was talking about. Naturally, this idea failed.
But this could work for a site like yours. Since it focuses on older games, you could get someone to talk about old fighters, old shooters, old platformers, the always interesting behind-the-scenes stuff that went on with Atari or Nintendo or whoever, game music, the popularity of the retro look, &tc. It would be less of a cut-and-dry review site (which a lot of classic gaming sites seem to be) with this in place.

Uh... what? How about an SNES version of sega-16? Tons of classic forms of gaming to be discussed and reviewed, and I actually haven't seen a site like that solely for the SNES around too much. Plus, with the Wii VC service in place, it would be good to have a site that can discuss and educate others on classic SNES games released domestically and abroad. I like it, and I can think of a few people that just might want to contribute. In fact, this would go together well with HMD's idea. There was this idea I had a while ago (and by a while ago I mean last week) of creating a site that had multiple writers, each one focusing on one particular facet of gaming that they were familiar with. It would be less of a cut-and-dry review site (which a lot of classic gaming sites seem to be) with this in place. Now that sounds like something I could get into. I just need to recruit some more writers and work on getting the new look of the site down. Anyone here interested?

I'd be interested, provided you don't mind my recent foray into the long, drawn out, artsy-type reviewing style (see example: unfinished Ouendan write-up).

dire, if I don't get my own site up and running, I'd be more than happy to lend you all those obscure SFC reviews I've done since early September. If you're willing to give me a sub-section on the new site, that'd be great. I'd be willing to paypal you $5 a month or something as a token of my appreciation. I'd love my own hub, a place for my reviews and misc. ramblings (stories, memories, experiences, etc. all related to gaming of course)
LMK.

Sounds good, steven. Keep me posted on your new site... if you do get it up and running, I'd gladly do a link exchange. If you don't, I'll definitely give you your own sub-section.

I loved OPCFG - I don't think I ever contributed to it, but I used to read it over and over - I even memorized Dire51's top 100 games at some point. Goes without saying that it would be great to have it back. ^_^

So far, Kaze Kiri still eludes me. *shakes fist at high eBay bidders* Anyway, I took over the site while Rob was on hiatus, but I don't think I did a very good job of it. I worked on a few sections and helped out when possible, but I kinda let fanmail slip, and... well, I blame 90% myself, 5% school, and 5% not having 24 hour access to the Internet. I might not be co-manager of the site this time around, but maybe I could be a writer for it? There are really only two things I excel at: Video games and writing. It'd be great to combine the two.

It'll be great to still have you associated with the site. So, where are we right now? It's still coming back this year, but not immediately. I've got a bit much on my plate at the moment to start rebuilding the site. Everyone that wants to contribute is still welcome to when the time comes, of course - I'll be contacting you when the time comes. Speaking of contributors, I will still be looking to line some more up before the reopening. Anyone else feel like it? How about you, Setzer?
