www.hardcoregaming101.net/cadash/cadash.htmTaito's Cadash is an action-RPG originally developed for the arcades, then ported homewards. Reading about it in magazines at the time, it was something that fascinated me, just because I loved the idea of multiple player characters in action games. But I never saw it in arcades, and the Genesis version got mediocre reviews, so I never felt it was worth buying. Upon finally playing it, it's definitely one of those games that's cooler on paper than it is in execution, but it's still a game I find really interesting, especially for an arcade title. I remember briefly discussing the port on Twitter ago. There's no real definitive port - the Genesis version would be easily superior to the TG16 version...but it's missing half the characters. The TG16 version has everyone, but completely lacks continues, something really annoying for a game that takes at least an hour to beat. Apparently there's a cheat code, and I mentioned it in the text, but I never got it working.

Cadash is sort of a frustrating game for me. While I like the concept (Wonderboy in Monster World on steroids), the execution in every version leaves something to be desired. The music is pretty good though.

Yeah, the TG version's broken continue code was a source of ire for me and my friends as well. I didn't have too much of a problem having to grind a bit during single player, but with someone else it feels more boring for some reason.

I don't keep this game in my MAME ROM directory. Mostly because of difficulty and character's clunky movement. But for it's RPG feature, i quite salute that.
I play as ninja because other classes are too mainstream.
