So, what do I get at the beggining of the game, besides the Heat Shield? A new sword or Battle Armor?

I'd say go for armor if you're down to a choice. The dungeons are long and the extra hearts help out if you're not good at dodging.

OK, so here's how shields work: as it might be obvious by their names, each shield gives elemental resistance to certain enemy attacks and envrionmental hazards. It has only a pretty low chance of it happening, but when it does Asha will recieve no damage even if you forget to put up the shield. Also, a strategy for the Harpy miniboss on the volcano dungeon: get on the highest (upper-right) platform, and when he swoops down, attack, turn around, rinse and repeat. If you manage to land a downward stab on him, you score two hits, too. Pretty easy guy to take care of. Also, the most important part of that genie gif isn't the music, but rather the trippy background

Beat the game again after years. The Final area and boss battle's kinda faltering for such a game.

So apparently Wonder Boy's getting a sequel. Remember this? Apparently at some point series creator Ryuichi Nishizawa got involved, and they apparently scrapped everything and just made it a Wonder Boy game. Which isn't so bad, since the games were going to so similar, anyway. Kind of an unusual development, but I figure people would want to know.

Huh. Not sure how I feel about that. It was explicitly stated that Monster World IV was to be the final game in the series, and I'd rather leave it on that very high note than have some unrelated homage/rip-off turned into another official entry in the series. And it seems like maybe they're hesitant to go all-in with how they combined "Wonder Boy" with "Monster World", creating a brand new title in the process, rather than using one of the actual preexisting titles. All the "licensed from" and "created in cooperation with" stuff doesn't give me high hopes that Nishizawa or any other staff from the old games will be especially involved. Honestly, I'm getting the feeling that Nishizawa just wanted to make a buck and thought this looked pretty good.

It's going to be a good game, I think -- The Game Atelier is a great developer, and the trailer for it looks absolutely baller.
I just wish they'd have picked a better name. But whatever! Monster World IV was an awesome game, and I'm definitely down for a sequel, bad name or no.
