GC9X Livestream: SNK, Before the Neo-Geo!

Though many associate SNK with their widely-praised Neo-Geo hardware and the many games developed for it, Shin Nihon Kikaku actually existed as a company long before the Neo-Geo's 1990 debut. As a matter of fact, their first game was released in 1979! This span of their history is often overlooked since many of their games at the time were fairly average responses to releases by other companies, But they did have some notable successes in their earlier years.

Coincidentally, a lot of these games are freakin' weird, man. Join me as I subject both podcast crew and viewers alike to horrifying cars with arms, thinly veiled games about Fidel Castro and Che Guevara (which got largely unaltered releases in the Reagan-era U.S. somehow), a game in which someone's girlfriend gets kidnapped four times in one day, games featuring loose depictions of greek godesses, and others!



The crew and myself will be showing off several "main features" demonstrating precisely what SNK's big releases were like, as well as a few quicker games as bumpers between the main ones.
