October Quiz - Clues #1Notice something? This round we're capitalising RETRO, one fellow player called it a "real boomer quiz"! You can see the focus just by looking at the release dates.... ten of the games were released before 1989, twelve in the 90s, and only three in this millennium. So it's a long way into the past, but don't lose heart! Just look up some Atari Arcade classics So far, only 25 people are participating, the scores are low and a top 10 place is already up for grabs with 13 correct titles. With this post, I'll bring the thread back up and give you some hints.... Hints #1: 1) In game #4, you control a tank. 2) There are also arcade versions of the following game series: 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 15 and 17. 3) Title #3 is a licensed game, there are movies and comics with the same name. 4) Game #7 was a launch title of the Atari 2600. Deadline is Sunday the 31st of October, enter via www.retrogamequiz.com/Here's the quiz again, good luck. i.imgur.com/2pCATBb.png

Atari-themed, lots of pixel art, mostly retro and a couple of obscure titles: Nice one! Thanks, some other players have complained though. Let's see how things are by the end of the month! There won't be any of that here: Noone signed up to this forum to become a hardcore 101 complainer. (Were just "critical plus", our standards are "unconventionally" high - that's all )
I'm not saying that it's easy - at least not for me. But there are some games for systems that I always was rather fond of. And most of the games I don't recognise look distinct enough to be solvable with a little bit of effort. Not sure if I'll actually find the time for research, but it's tempting.

Personally I like that you mix up the quizzes so much in theme and difficulty Mr_Horizon. Not every quiz will be to everyone's tastes of course, but finding out about new areas of the hobby is part of what makes it interesting to play. I'm up to 14 so far, so looks like that's a good position to be in for now.

October Quiz - Clues #2So my dear friends of video games, honour your classics and join in this round! There are less than ten days left before October is already over. There are only about 40 players so far, and two from this community. Sure this round is frustrating, but remember - every single point helps your forum in the yearly ranking. So even if you only recognise one game, don't hesitate to submit your entry. Hints #2: 1) #6 and #15 are multiplatform remakes of Atari classics for the new Atari VCS. 2) Do you like cat-themed mini games? Maybe game 13 is something for you. 3) Number 8 is a game with only three letters, which was ported to all kinds of systems between 1981 and 2010. 4) Title 11 is one of the most successful Atari 2600 games and sold millions of copies. Deadline is Sunday 31 October, enter via www.retrogamequiz.com/Here's the quiz again, now let's go! Direct link: i.imgur.com/2pCATBb.png

I hope there'll be more than 2 of us this month. 25 was pretty mean, but I think most of these are findable.

Some of you guys are out of this world. I am happy with 16 so far. Those last two rows are tough...

I'm stuck at around 11 myself. Just to be clear, these were all made by Atari or a "legitimate" successor and not Infogrames after they bought the name for the 3 more recent ones, or is that too much of hint?

Some of you guys have too much time on your hands. I am happy with 16 so far. Those last two rows are tough... I edited to more accurately fit my case. Trust me, it's not due to more expansive knowledge.

I can tell you some simply run on Atari hardware without any other connection to Atari whatsoever.

What Teroknor said - "some simply run on Atari hardware without any other connection to Atari whatsoever.". If I had focused only on games developed by the original Atari company, it would have made things too niche on one side and too easily googleable on the other. So now the quiz is a sliding scale between "100% Atari" and "multiplatform that happens to also have an Atari release".

That makes sense. I misinterpreted the description as games only made by Atari. The reference to the Sega quiz should have clued me in to look at that one's description.

excelsior Good thing that's been ironed out then (hehe). Too bad the hints don't really help me with my last two holdouts: 14 and 25. 14 kinda bugs me, because it has a familiar aesthetic. But I've been wrong before when it comes to these kind of hunches.

I don't even remember how I found 14. Might have been a lucky accident. 25 was trouble, I'll say that much. Not the answer I was expecting.
