Theme musicIn this age of the internet it feels like anything you want to know you can just Google, but sometimes there are things about games which no one still knows. For example, did you know that no one knows who voiced EVA in Metal Gear Solid 3? I was pretty surprised to learn that myself, I knew it was credited to "Suzetta Minet" but I always assumed it was just Debi Mae West since it sounds just like her but Debi says it isn't her even though she admits they sound alike, however "Suzetta Minet" is confirmed to be a pseudonym so know no one knows who the actress is other than Kris Zimmerman, the voice director and she can't say for legal reasons I guess. Isn't that bizarre? Like I can't believe over a decade later we still don't know, who could it have been? I tend to think it is just Debi Mae West since that's too big of a coincidence that it sounds just liker her, right? But why would she lie? I think maybe it could be because she also voiced Meryl in the series she wanted to "separate" the roles for whatever reason, but it's still just weird to me.

I literally posted a very similar topic to this one like, 2 hours before you posted this one. hg101.proboards.com/thread/13687/newer-games-unsolved-undiscovered-secretsThough I guess this is a slightly different topic, technically! To respond to your specific question, it's not at all uncommon for people to play voice roles in games and either go uncredited or use a fake name, and the reason for this is typically unions. A lot of companies record their voiceovers using non-union rates, because union rates are too expensive and/or too restrictive. Some actors are cool with this, and just allow themselves to be credited anyway, but others are afraid of repercussions from SAG, so they use fake names or ask not to be credited at all. Some actors, too, will just plain ask not to be credited for entirely personal reasons. And it's totally their choice. I'm not sure if that's specifically what's happened in this instance (especially if she voiced a role elsewhere in the series and was credited), but it's possible it could still be Debi Mae West who, for some reason, just doesn't want to own up to this role. -Tom

You're right, it is kind of similar.
I don't know why this frustrates me so much, it's just weird to not know who voices a major role in a big game like Snake Eater in this day and age.
But it's gotta be Debi Mae West right? It can't be a coincidence that a mysterious unknown actress who sounds just like her would be out there right? Plus she's used pseudonyms before.
I just don't know why she would lie about it, maybe she thought voicing the love interests for both Snake and Big Boss was..... cheesy? Maybe she didn't want to be synonymous with Metal Gear?

There is a game in the style of Yume Nikki called LCDDEM. It's very well-regarded by its fans, but a few years ago, its author koronba posted online that they wanted everyone to stop talking about it, take down their videos and remove all wiki pages about it. Nobody knows why, but because of the game's mysterious and dark nature koronba's request seems even stranger.
Actually, we don't know hardly anything about Yume Nikki itself's creator, too; and certain analysts have found that many images from Yume Nikki are actually references to a very obscure and specific culture's art, the Paracas culture, information on which is not easy to find. This shows that the game has far more visual consistency and depth than most people would assume, reaffirming its mysterious status. In fact, the design of the protagonist, Madotsuki, has been seen on an old and abnormal Paracas textile.
There's also the question of the killer7 source code leak from 2016. Who the hell at Grasshopper was uploading the killer7 code onto a random server, and why? The code wasn't found until half a year after being uploaded, and it was found by westerners I believe, so leaking is unlikely to have been the intended purpose.
And of course, there's that old creepypasta-esque question of "what was Nintendo thinking with the Game Boy Camera?"
Oh, and one only has to look in the "lost/obscure games" thread to find examples of works that have been lost to time, at least temporarily. The more obscure stuff you get into, the more it becomes clear that the internet does NOT have everything on it, not at all.

That talk of unidentified voice actors reminds me of Resident Evil 1. To this day no one knows who the hell is 'Inezh', the live action actress for Jill.

Luckily atleast some of the actors have been identified for Resident Evil. Take from the video description - Footage was taken from the 1996 marketing tape called, "Birth of Biohazard," made by Toshiba EMI. Actors: Albert Wesker ................. Sergio Jones (Confirmed) Chris Redfield ................. Scott McCulloh (Voice acting confirmed, acting unconfirmed) Jill Valentine ................... * Berry Burton ................... Barry Gjerde (Confirmed) Rebecca Chambers ......... Lynn Harris (Confirmed) *The actress who portrayed Jill Valentine is unknown. Though all the other actors were also credited under aliases and are unconfirmed ,with the exception of Lynn Harris who confirmed that she portrayed Rebecca Chambers, nobody actually has any idea who acted as Jill Valentine. It's widely thought to be Una Kanavagh, but she declined the rumors (https://dn3pm25xmtlyu.cloudfront.net/...). However, it's possible that she's lying in order to distance herself from the role. Other candidates are: -Michelle Yerger: A small time actress who played in only two films and even then, she had minor roles. She's completely untraceable. -Michelle Yerger: Has the same name as the other candidate but they're in no way related. She's just another casualty and by looking at her old highschool photos from 1998 showed that she wasn't the actress. (Just to clarify, I wasn't the one who traced her yearbook photo's down, it was done by people here: -Wendy Rice: A porn star who's considered by many to be Jill's actress. However, she was born in 1975 which would make her about 20 to 21 in 1995/1996, which doesn't match up with the Jill's actresses' age at the time. All that's known about the actress is that she was a teenager that was in high school at the time and that she was credited under the pseudonym, "Inezh,"

edit: Jill is not Michelle Yerger, stop contacting her lol.
Given the current findings (the dubbers and actors are separate), and how every actor's name is accurate (their real first names), I'm ready to believe that Inezh's name is... Inezh. Or possibly InĂªs due to how it's very close to a brazilian name and how you could possibly end up with Zh at the end instead of su in a back and forth transliteration from pt-jp-pt. Who knows, really.
Remember: Barry's actor was discovered because of his students in New Zealand that noticed that he was Barry so everything is possible.

None of the actors used for Hotel Dusk and Last Window are not credited as their real names, but most of them have been tracked down, I think.
