One of my favourite series of all time.
Might be worth adding a quick write-up about the Alan Probe series by Adult Swim to the related games section. They're on their fourth entry... though you'll need an Android to play the third entry, since it broke a few iOS releases ago and they never fixed it.

The "Dark Cut" series of flash games also feels relevant - haven't opened the article just yet though so forgive me if it's already mentioned.

Definitely one of my favorite series. I remember reading somewhere that these were developed by the SMT team as a break after Nocturne. I'm actually not sure if that also applies to the original DS game but definitely from Second Opinion. That would explain the series absence since they've been busy with SMT4, SMT4:A and now SMT5 since Trauma Team. It is a shame though since TT is so good, but the series is wedded to the DS and Wii control schemes that it'd be hard to make a new one. I guess a touchscreen only Switch game could be possible, but you'd lose the precision that the others have unless it came bundled with a capacitive stylus. Also, it's very weird that Trauma Team takes place in Portland, Maine since it's such a small city with an equally small population. I've been there and it's a very incongruous depiction plus it doesn't actually make any sense in terms of the story. The twist that Rosalia is spread by migrating butterflies is cute, but it's also not accurate. It takes multiple generations of monarchs to migrate from Mexico to the northeast, so any butterflies in Maine would have been disease free. Even if the disease spread from the parent to its eggs, Portland would be one of the last places for the disease to spread if it was brought in by butterflies and it certainly wouldn't have been the outbreak point. A city in the southwest would have made a whole lot more sense. The part in the end where Maria and Naomi fly by helicopter to Mexico in a couple hours is totally impossible with a Maine setting, but is no problem with a southwest setting. It's almost as if it started out that way, and was changed to Maine for no discernible reason.

Switch has motion, maybe we can have a new game with motion and touch. The touchscreen is different on Switch, but maybe it won't be so bad if they design it with it in mind. Could take advantage of the multi-touch.

I didn't get into it. If you're going to do an operation game, for me it has to be either like Life & Death for Apple II or completely fucked up like Surgeon Simulator or that one where you're a hobo pretending to be a doctor.

Great article.
I think something is missing after the boldened part.
Also, should we mention that the American cover for Trauma Team altered the official art for Maria & Naomi so that they're showing less cleavage?
