Most people thought Super Mario 64, but Mario fans can think his role came earlier in the 1995 PC game Mario's FUNdamentals (also known as Mario's Game Gallery). But during the time of deeply researching about the 1994 Super NES version of Super Punch-Out!!, I noticed this in the credits: There was even a beta version of the game with a little different voices. Any thoughts?

Martinet voiced Mario in the CD-ROM version of Mario Teaches Typing which also came out in 1994. I don't know if this release predates Super Punch-Out though.

If this article is to be believed, he voiced Mario at various trade shows since 1990. He was also listed in the credits to Mario Teaches Typing, initially released in 1992 with a voiced CD version probably released in 94 (copyright is listed as 1992-94). Also, the other voice actor for Super Punch Out is supposed to be Michael Shapiro, better known for his role as the G-Man.

The original floppy disk version also had a few voice samples for Mario, but they were done by Ronald Ruben according to the credits. Only the 1994 CD release had Martinet.

I can still remember playing possibly the 1992 version on my teacher's Macintosh desktop and only one voice I remember saying "Too bad! Perhaps you should try again!" didn't sound anything like Charles Martinet himself. But now I found it and sites say Ronald B. Ruben did his 92 floppy disk voice:
Not sure if 1993 version exists, but since Super Punch-Out!! and the CD Mario Teaches Typing were released the same year, the CD Mario typing game possibly has a greater chance of being released earlier than October, the month SPO came out. However, I wonder if 94 or 95 are correct? Wait! Possibly the CD version came out in time for Windows 95.

Wasn't Martinet first used as Mario's voice at a CES as part of some "digital puppeteering" thing?

Wasn't Martinet first used as Mario's voice at a CES as part of some "digital puppeteering" thing? I believe so. Correct, back in 1992; however, Charles is putting on the CGI-controlling headset on someone else. The first edition was also used in Nintendo Power Previews displays with the Real Time Wario as well: But today's Real Time Mario uses the GCN era Mario in place with the actual Martinet voice acting. And I heard in a sampler of Charles Martinet's advertising voices to see if there were any similarities to the Super NES Super Punch-Out!! characters, and I remember this commercial, but didn't realize it was Charles himself until I studied about him: Now, as for the release date of the CD typing game, not sure how reliable MobyGames is. Most websites said just 1995. And while the typing game was more like the CD-i Nintendo games, which weren't really Nintendo's ideas, Super Punch-Out!! was Charles Martinet's first real involvement with a Nintendo game on a Nintendo console.

I'm gonna go out on a limp here and say that Mobygames is probably more reliable than 'most websites'. The date is from a press release which you can find at the link I posted above, it's highly unlikely that someone made an error with that.

Then how do you explain Irvine, California part? Test location or what?

Charles Martinet evidently had a big screen appearance in the 1995 film "Nine Months." I tried watching my mother's DVD copy hoping to catch him in a Hollywood live-action production, but I couldn't stand the inanity of it all for long enough. The damned thing even managed to make Jeff Goldblum boring.
Some intrepid soul ought to upload the relevant bits some day.

Here are all taunts from SNES Super Punch-Out!! to compare to either various roles of Michael Shapiro or Charles Martinet. Then how do you explain Irvine, California part? Test location or what? That's part of the dateline of the press release. Irvine,CA is where Interplay had their headquarters at the time. I understand now. Thanks.

His role in the film is that he's (at least) the voice of a children's mascot character in a scene set in a toy store, which goes wrong as the main character and his friend try to get away from him:
