Throwback side scrolling action/Metroidvania games,Part 2

There's a similar thread, so i thought just gonna do an update on recent development of these types of games with 2 lists i've found:

Some games are yet to be released, some are already out,but it's plenty to choose from,especially for those who have a soft spot for these classic genres.
2 games i wasn't aware of--The Siege and the Sandfox and The Crown Stones: Mirrah look truly beautiful with great spritework and lighting.


Moonrider by Joymasher(these guys have been on fire lately for sure and it's just their side project) and Bushiden from Pixel Arc Studios reminds a lot about Strider and Shinobi,which is always a welcome direction:

Another looker from around 2010 i think it is, which is still being heavily worked upon. Looking forward to the updates!

Here's a gem that has been totally overlooked for years: Spud's Quest!



It's a combination of Dizzy-style exploration and puzzle solving with some action elements and dungeons that are very Zelda-esque (albeit sidescrolling). It's a well made game, but came and went largely unnoticed. Highly recommended, especially for anyone who liked Mystic Belle.

Interestingly, I did like Mystik Belle, but... I kind of hated Spud's Quest! Dunno if I just wasn't in the right mood for it at the time, but the level designs just felt really poor to me. I got frustrated with it really quickly, and just... stopped playing, because I felt like I wasn't going to enjoy it.

Maybe I should give it another go sometime!
