Alot of European Publishers seemed to come out on PS2 era then just Disappeared like Play It, Xplosiv and Empire. All three of those published space shooters in Europe. Though Play it got the Strikers 1945 1 and 2 PS2 disc and Changed the Title Screens to 1945 1 and 2. But did no changes with the GunBird Collection. Both of these have no Memory card support what so ever though is it like that in the Japanese Original versions?

What's the closest equivalent to mid-range publishers nowadays? One's who aren't indie but aren't one of the major players?
I guess Xseed and Nordic?

Deep Silver could be the one. Damn, I got Deep Silver and Xseed mixed up, Deep Silver was one of the first things that popped in my mind but I couldn't remember the name, I just know them as "the Dead Island guys" Shame on me for not Googling, although Xseed is still another example.

It was just announced that Deep Silver will be publishing Shenmue 3. Interesting, I wonder why exactly Sega is not willing to take a chance on it. I guess this also doesn't bode well for there being Sega arcade games in it or Sega capsule toys, which is a shame.

Hopefully that would still remain a thing. I'de image it would be, some sort of licensing going on or something. I dunno at the same time maybe not. Perhaps SEGA doesn't want to touch anything that was part of more unsuccessful times business wise.
I'm still finishing the first one though! Then on to the second.. Then after the third as been out for a while (by that time most likely lol) I can dive into that.

I don't understand the criteria.
I don't think that Agetec can be compared with Atlus or Deep Silver. Atlus has Atlus Japan and kinda SEGA. Deep Silver has Koch Media, which is the biggest distribution company in Europe regarding games. THQ Nordic has 150 employees. This is not a small company.
It seems like that only XSEED can be compared? Although, I don't know a thing about XSEED. I think they are somehow related to Marvelous.
Yours sincerely

Sort of tricky, yes. 505 Games has 151 employees according to Wiki and won 'Best Indie Games Label' award in '15, but has published titles like Sniper Elite III, Assetto Corsa and Rocket League on record.

Deep Silver is actually Sega's publisher for Europe since 2016 already, I guess they just expanded that business relationship towards other regions.

Yeah, 505 Games grew over the years. During the ps2 era, they could not even release in whole Europe. Only at the UK and bella Italia with a very limited release, kinda like Rising Star Games. Now, you can find their indie titles at reasonable prices at a store. Probably, one of the few developers that considerated the indie market like Deep Silver during the ps3 generation. Some other companies are trying to reach the PC market like Ghostlight, although they started very late. Yours sincerely Jack Caeylin

It seems like that only XSEED can be compared? Although, I don't know a thing about XSEED. I think they are somehow related to Marvelous. I thought Xseed started out as a group of ex-Square (-Enix?) localizers, but yes at some point they got bought out by Marvelous. (which is what caused the Harvest Moon franchise to get split. Marvelous (developers of the original Japanese games) wanted Xseed to localize the games after that but Natsume still holds the trademark rights to the western name and went as far as creating another franchise so they can keep using it.
