I’m a sucker for games that allow me to climb ladders from any angle and lets me jump off at any point. Something really satisfying about that. Me too. I don't like having to climb all the way back down. That was a nice part of Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Roguelikes with persistent unlockables. Yeha, purists might consider this heresy, but I like making some progress even when I inevitably fail. Of course, a roguelike shouldn't depend too much on unlockables and at least theoretically be beatable on the first try.

Instant death in fighting games (ie Bushido Blade). Actually, any game where a sword is actually a deadly weapon (versus the MMO style where you need to hit everything 50 times).
Throws in every beat-'em-up ever, except the few lame ones that don't let you use them for crowd control. Guns in though beat-'em-up, for the way they temporarily reverse the situation completely.
Hidden loot in RPGs that you can find by walking through a suspicious wall or behind a staircase (for example). Also, NPCs walking around dungeons or inns in far-off spots of the world map (Dragon Quest is great for that).
