Enough is enough. I've been here on this forum for a number of years and when it comes to talk about the Mega Man franchise we never talk about mainly about the Robot Masters, Mavericks, Pseudoroids, etc. bosses. Well, that stops now. I'm starting this topic and hopefully you'll all really talk about this. What's your favorite or hated ones? Ever made your own ideas? Stuff like that.

Not really a favorite, but it trips me out that Dust Man and Crystal Man were submitted by Yusuke Murata (the artist for Eyeshield 21 and the Young Jump version of One Punch Man). He must have been about 13 years old when he made his submission for Dust Man.
I wish there were more special kill animations for the robot masters. I always made sure to kill Wire Sponge with the ostrich's Sonic Slicer to see him dramatically split in half.

I always liked Snake Man. It's such a weird idea for a robot master, but the design is good!

Favorite Robot Masters by game...
Mega Man 1: Elec Man 2. Quick Man 3. Gemini Man 4. Pharaoh Man 5. Gyro Man (All time favorite) 6. Wind Man 7. Turbo Man 8. Search Man 9. Magma Man 10. Solar Man Mega Man & Bass. Magic Man Most disliked RB is Blizzard Man. Rather silly design. How he made into the finals of the Robot Tournament?
Favorite Mavericks by game...
Mega Man X1. Sting Chameleon 2. Crystal Snail 3. Crush Crawfish (favorite) 4. Cyber Peacock The rest are unsure of. Most dislike Maverick is Tornado Tonion. He's based off an onion for crying out loud. Better off in Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom.
I made a ton of ideas for bosses back in the day here's my original 10
Ball Man, Hang Man, Bee Woman, Cat Woman, Ape Man, Cactus Man, Stretch Man, Trap Man, Nuke or Nuclear Man and Atom Man.
I even did some ideas for things that are related to one another like the Seven Deadly Sins (with an eighth one named Hate to round it out to eight RB's,) the signs of the zodiac (made this before I found out of the Constellation Droids,) and Mavericks based on the animals of the Chinese Zodiac.

I tend to like most of the ones in the classic series, even some of the goofy looking ones. I just find some of the variations on fire/ice/water lame, and some of the ones that can't be categorized as having a science/military/industrial purpose as more fitting for the X series. When it comes to how they are to fight in-game, I guess toad man and a handful of others are kind of lame in this regard too. But at least toad man gives you a cool weapon and has a nice bassline in his theme. I actually have made a joke robot master, it's from when MM9 was new. He-Man.

Centaur Man from Mega Man 6, if only for his interesting shape and posing.

As for me, I always thought that MM5 is the worst one in the classic series, and its robot masters are quite stupid as well. MM6 is a close second, but at least they made the effort of somewhat changing things by making some of the related to countries instead of things, a la G Gundam. Some that I like are Gemini Man, Shadow Man, Pharaoh Man, and Splash Woman just because she's the only female one

Some of the more obvious ideas were applied in a really weird way. To this day there's gotta be a more intuitive way to do Fire Man I feel. Spark Man also feels a lot more natural than Elec Man.
So, as far as the "yeah, that makes sense" guys go - actually, a girl, since Splash Woman is pretty damn intuitive. She's a mermaid! Great one. Ice Man is super basic, but it works. Cloud Man is another great one.
For the more obscure ones, yeah, Centaur Man is great. Gemini Man is fun; obvious concept but rather weird approach - what IS his design? Ice-y kinda guy?
For the X series, since the bosses also had an animal species to them, the designs I like tend to be the ones that blend the elemental/attack type and the species in interesting ways. Penguins and Eagles were rather obvious; Sponges... not so much. Although one of the most fun fights is Volk Kraken from X5, and in terms of design, Split Mushroom is rather clever.
For the Zero games, while it wasn't my fav game, Zero 4 probably had the most memorable cast of bosses (unless we count the Guardians from Z1, then it's Z1 by far). Sol Titanion, Noble Mandrago and Popla Cocapetri are all pretty fun designs. Mandrago especially - it's a friggin' cactus! Z3 has Deathtanz Mantisk, who is also very memorable.
For the ZX games I tend to judge the bosses also on how fun their forms are to use, so it's tough to just keep it about the designs here. Might have to come back to that one.
