I think most parents are way to lazy to even try.

The robot game looks like a redesign of Project Giant Robot that was tech demo'd on Wii U. Said robot papercraft also looks very elaborate in design, look at 2:14 in the video. I wonder how long it will take to assemble it.

I think most parents are way to lazy to even try. Kids have a way of forcing parents to become un-lazy with stuff like this, heh. A guy from my work was telling me how he'd bought his kids some lego, and let them build it. They broke it not long after and continually pestered him to rebuild it for them, which he did. They then broke it again. This time he told them he wouldn't rebuild it for them, but they're only allowed to have the lego when he's home now, otherwise it's packed away. I could see Labo being the same, "you'll have to do this yourself" "ok" *SPONGEBOB SOME TIME LATER MEME IMAGE* "Daaadddddd(or Mummmmmm) this is too hard do it for me...."

I remember when I was a kid (like before pre-school, probably), I had a bunch of Hot Wheels cars. I remember I found a brick in the backyard, and I used it to smash my favorite car (a "Mello Yello"-branded one), and my family refused when I asked them to buy me another car. I had to learn a tough lesson that day.

A few thoughts about Labo....
1. How are used game stores like Gamestop and others going to deal with the influx of trade-ins with this? Are they going to keep the cardboard parts that are already put together and where do they put them in the store? Most likely it will be in the back in piles of boxes. Heaven forbid this doesn't go badly or they be overloaded with cardboard toys most won't want. Probably some stores will have a big bonfire in the parking lot to be ride of it. And Nintendo would be over run with this that they might do what Atari did with all the E.T. games.
2. Will Microsoft and Sony get into the game and do something similar? Their results with motion control stuff never really caught on I think.
3. How many people who first hear the name of this might mistake for something with dogs? (Labo could be mistaken for Labodor retriever.)

I could see Little Big Planet working with something like this given it already has a cardboard aesthetic thing going. Plus we all know how blatantly Sony ripped off Nintendo with the Move.

Nah I think Sony in particular been burned one too many times aping Nintendo. Remember Wonderbook? Although they do have a game called Tearaway that is perfect for a Labo clone. 3. Introducing Nintendo Labo: Nintendogs. Make your own Labo Labrador and make it do tricks!

What have I done!? I've been watching Youtube videos of peoples reactions to Labo and that damn music from it is stuck in my head. I'll admit the music is good and it has a sense of wonder in it but Damn it I'm likely to be humming it at work tomorrow. Hope no one hear me doing it.
Another thought....
How long will it be before someone starts copying this with Legos?

At first I was pretty dumbfounded but after a bit I had to step back and say eh, you know I can't really criticize it when it's clearly not for me. Honestly I don't even really feel its Nintendo's 'next big thing' more just something they thought they can do on the side for kids mostly and hey, more power to them.
In any case I'll be back in my corner waiting for news on virtual console.

The whole thing that makes Labo work is that you have these motion and camera sensors in the Joycons. That alone makes it pretty pointless for Sony or MS to get into the cardboard biz.

Looks like a fun gimmick, nothing more, nothing less. Not anything revolutionary, but something to toy around with for a couple of evenings or so.

Nintendo seems so bent on coming off as silly and childish that I'd be surprised if they didn't come out with a line of propeller hats soon.

Welp, that's their shtick - coming up with silly and cutesy gimmicks to attract the non-gamer audience. Motion controls, tablet controllers, dual screens, pedometers, cardboard peripherals, etc.

I know, but they're also not bad at making games, when they bother.
