Can someone help me with getting Crysis to run via Steam? I've had this in my library for years, but only just now am I attempting to start it up. When I try to play it however, this window pops up: I did some research, and apparently going in the game's Bin32 folder and deleting "GL.ini" and "paul.dll" is supposed to fix it, as those files are just DRM. When I try that though, I get this message: What the fuck?! This is a digital copy. What the fuck. I've tried other things like running the game's EXE via admin, but nothing changes. What the fuck is wrong? WHy can't I play my fucking game? Fuck DRM.

Apparently you're not the only person to suffer this bug: steamcommunity.com/app/17300/discussions/0/1694914735995805144/It seems that the Steam version of Crysis has basically been abandoned by EA, as it contains a tonne of issues such as only supporting 32-bit OS's by default and needing a separate patch to remove the obsolete Gamespy browser. Anecdotally, the Origin version is fully updated and works perfectly in Windows 10 or 8, 32 and 64-bit versions. I think you may have to bite the bullet and contact EA support for this. :(

Since you own a legitimate copy of the game, I'd say its okay to get it from an alternative source if you can't get the Steam version to work.

I remember my friend having similar problems with Steam version of the game - he contacted EA support, and they offered him a free Origin copy. So, yeah, you can try that .u.

I read about another workaround for getting Crysis to run in general (no idea if it applies to my specific situation or not), but it involves also having Crysis Warhead installed. My internet is down at my house atm, so I'll have to try this stuff later on. I don't want to give up though. If all else fails, I'll probably contact EA support.

Well, GOG has it DRM-free. I don't know if you can wrangle your way into a Steam refund to switch stores. I'm sure if you explain yourself well on the support request, they'd be willing to help you out.

I got Crysis to launch! I followed the steps from Method #1 in this thread on the Steam forum - steamcommunity.com/app/17300/discussions/0/1290690926864387648/I think the issue had something to do with the fact that the Steam versions of Crysis and Crysis Warhead automatically launch the 32-bit version of each game, without giving you a choice between 32-bit and 64-bit. The Steam version of Crysis doesn't have a 64-bit folder, but the Steam version of Crysis Warhead does have one (though it gets bypassed in favor of the 32-bit folder). So, I deleted the 32-bit folder, and renamed the 64-bit folder to have the same name as the old 32-bit folder, while changing the names of the EXE and whatnot. Then I copied the new "32-bit" folder from Warhead into the first Crysis' folder, and can now play the first Crysis in 64-bit. The only other game I can think of which had this kind of issue on Steam (with the game defaulting to 32-bit regardless of your OS) was Mighty No. 9, lolol. Thank you everyone for your support ^_^ I appreciate it
