Shame, but yeah, traditional forums are slowly dying for about 10 years now.

I don't use it that much because chats don't work well for in-depth discussion as soon as there's a certain amount of people in one channel and because it's all ephemeral. Forum posts can get buried too, and the site might eventually get shut down. Honestly, if you have something you write that you're proud of, you should post it to some form of personal web site. Preferably in a form that you keep personal backups so you can rehost/migrate/whatever in the future.
Yeah, I know, personal websites are so Web 1.0, but it's nice to have a place online that you own.

Oh absolutely. I'm on my third site now, I back up some things online and have a ton of documents on my PC. Am I proud of most of those, well not really, it's mostly weird top lists and niche info. But I like making them.

Yeah I decided to check back on this place and am a bit bummed to see that its slown down even more than when I looked like 3 years ago.
Oh well. I'll still keep checking in now and then. I have too much nostalgia here.

What I find confusing about that is the number of people that lurk without registering is higher than when the forum was more active. It's an odd paradox to me.

And i'm fine with that. I'm mostly for the Podcasts here, anyway. Don't like 'em all, but it's still better than neverending facts, lists bla bla bla about video games etc. Sense of humor is abysmal here.

If you're here for the podcasts you don't need an account since it's a parasocial relationship.

Sense of humor is abysmal here. A rabbi, a priest and a minister walk into a video game forum. From a shadowy corner a voice is heard, muttering grumpily: "What kinda night club is this anyway?". The end. (from: Hardcore Standup Comedy 101)

I hope you are okay Bumpyroad. I remember 1-2 years ago, that you were one of the "positive thinking" ones and made great jokes.

So if you don't care about the forum why are you still there, and why would you have a problem with the forumgoers' sense of humor? No offense, but maybe the problem is that most of the time people can't understand what you are talking about in your posts.
By the way, going back on topic, I never understood what's the appeal of podcasts, audiobooks and such. Maybe it's the same reasoning of people using Twitch streamers to have some background noise during the chores... but still, why not use a radio? I don't get what's so good about streamers either.

I'd use a radio but there's basically nothing I want to listen to on it in my country, just a few podcasts.
Yeah it's part background noise, part interesting discussions that I don't generally get from the people around me (games, music, science, psychology, controversial politics which isn't just shouting). When it comes to gaming podcasts that are more free form I tend to feel the urge to be part of the convo or lose track of the topic so I don't listen as much to those.
Streamers... I'd never pay them but they can be OK.

Sense of humor is abysmal here. Gotta give it to you, that coming from you is funny.
