This thread is for collecting personal examples of much-vaunted difficult moments in gaming that we breezed through for one reason or another. An example for me is Ninja Gaiden (Xbox). I knew how Alma was supposed to be a real pain before I played it, so when I got to her, I approached her calmly (something I rarely do in games TBH). I beat her after a few tries. The ninja magic helped a lot. I still noped out of the game later on, though.

The archers of Anor Londo in Dark Souls. I've never had issue with that part. Just rush through and kick them off the ledge.

There are some enemies in the Monster Hunter games that are "walls" to a lot of players that I didn't have (much) trouble with. I don't think anything carted me thrice in LR World or 4U for example.

The water temple in Ocarina of Time. When I heard people have issues with that dungeon I was surprised as it didn't even register as difficult on my playthrough.

The End from MGS3. He can be beaten the same way you beat practically every boss in that game: use the shotgun.

The water temple in Ocarina of Time. When I heard people have issues with that dungeon I was surprised as it didn't even register as difficult on my playthrough. It's not difficult, just a pain in the ass to get through and confusing, I got lost for over an hour before I beat it. Anyway this is a really good question and I feel like there's some examples for me but at the same time I'm having a hard time thinking of any, I'll have to think about it. Actually, I guess one example would be Jak II, I never found that game to be as hard as it's made out to be, I think that reputation stems from Official US Playstation Magazine's review where they got Gary Steinman, the resident JRPG guy, to review it for some reason and it's clear he struggled due to inexperience with the action platformer genre, he actually knocked off points for the game because of the difficulty lol. It was challenging but not all that.

I'm another one who didn't have any problem with the Water Temple.
I do tend to do the thing where I hit a wall, then step back and play something else for a while. When I return to the game maybe a few weeks later I get through easily. That's what I had to do with the last boss of NGB

I do tend to do the thing where I hit a wall, then step back and play something else for a while. When I return to the game maybe a few weeks later I get through easily. That's what I had to do with the last boss of NGB I'm trying to do that now, except a day (and sometimes just a few hours) works just as well. What doesn't work for me is repeating the difficult part over and over past the point of enjoyment (like I'm used to doing), because I lost focus and energy after too many attempts and I stop progressing. Better to step back for a while and come back with a fresh mind. As for my answer for the thread... probably the maze-like final level and final boss in The Revenge of Shinobi. I realized pretty quickly that I'd never be able to beat the boss without the right magic, so I figured a way to complete the preceding level and make it to the boss both powered-up and with a spell ready, used the protection spell so I could get a bunch of hits in without bothering to dodge much early in the battle, and beat him in time to save Joe Musashi's girlfriend.

I've cleared Battletoads' Turbo Tunnel five times without dying so far if i remember correctly. I've been busy with other stuff to remember it right but i'm capable of running through that section without issues.

The Golgollada Gallows battle in Final Fantasy Tactics is supposed to be really nasty. You're surrounded on all four sides, all of which have the high ground. There's a boss on the field and the battle doesn't end when you kill him. Yet somehow, I managed to pull through strong enough to grab the bad guy's crystals and items in only two tries!
Got steamrolled by ever other one of the game's infamous fights, don't get me wrong.

Most recently, the EX-Behemoth misson, on Monster Hunter World. I remember spending one night, just playing for 5 hours straight, getting over so closer. Winning once, but one of the team mates got caught in the ecliptic meteor so the mission ended in failure. So one day, one of the team members from that night got it down to a science. She is a super hardcore gamer, out in New Zealand. Like no joke, it is disgustingly amusing how many trophies and finished games she has logged on her PS4 profile. I finally logged in when we got the crew together, and sweeped through EX-Behemoth with no faints/cart-outs. It was laughable how easy it was. I only had to focus on healing, and some open sniper shots here and there.

A lot of people acted like Mega Man 9 was the toughest game ever when it came out, but I breezed right through it.

I've been busy with other stuff to remember it right but i'm capable of running through that section without issues. Beat me to the punch on this one! There are very few gaming challenges I can claim to have conquered in my time, but the Turbo Tunnel in Battletoads is definitely one of them... and I didn't even think it was all that difficult at the time. I was kind of shocked later in life, in fact, when people started talking about how difficult it is. Another one that MIGHT count is... the entirety of Solstice on NES? People are constantly saying how insanely difficult that game is -- I've even heard some refer to it as "impossible" -- but I've probably beaten it 20 times at this point. There was a time in my life when I would beat it almost ritualistically in one sitting at least once per year. I never found it even remotely difficult, though I do consider it an excellent game -- one of my favorites of the 8-bit era, for sure. -Tom

Camilla's Library stealth in Lords of Shadow 2. Once I found out that you have to use the enemy spawns to your advantage, it was easy. Agreus's maze on the other hand........
