I've been compiling some box, cart & manual scans for Super Famicom, Megadrive games, etc. and I want to submit them to places like Photobucket, vgmuseum, etc., but I want to submit them as .png
It looks fine on my desktop and everything, but when I submit it to Photobucket, it converts to a .jpg. They still look okay, just, well, not as good. Got any ideas to remedy this?

Don't use PNG for scans of anything. It's a lossless format, which is nice, but the file sizes are HUGE. Even at the lowest compression levels, JPG will be significantly smaller without noticeable loss.
I've never used Photobucket before but it's probably changing to JPG automatically due to the file size.

ImageShack has bigger space, but you'll have to keep track of what you upload, since they won't do that for you...as far as I know.

Okay, I see. Well, I guess I'll just use .jpg. I think one of the files I had under .png was 508kb, which is large, but not considering the size of the pic. The minimum file size for my settings on Photobucket is 1MB. Thanks again.
If anyone is interested in seeing scans, they can *tag* this topic. I'll also move the thread if necessary (as it isn't essentially Off Topic anymore)

PNG is way better for storing simple images like ripped sprites, but those interrested in storing their images longer may be interested in PNG since it doesn't show age.

Just make a free account on imageshack and it'll track everything you upload. And I was highly reccomend the use of PNG and then afterwards if you have to convert to JPG..nothing worse then some tiny poor quality jpg.

Thanks Kal! I'll try imageshack later, and I'll definitely use .png for any small/tiny pictures. I'll keep modifying my above post with new pics (they're photobucket, so they're .jpg right now). I tell ya, I don't know too much about computers
