How many of them are actually any good?
I love my Dreamcast I love sega. But honestly........Us Americans got the short end of the stick.
For every Power Stone, Skies of Arcadia, Grandia II, Mars Matrix, 3rd strike, Shenmue and Jet Set Radio there's a KISS Psycho Circus, Kao the Kangaroo, Fur Fighters, Caesars Palace 2000, Chicken run, ECW: Hardcore Revolution, Fighting Force 2 and so on.
Seems the Dreamcast has Gamecube Syndrome.......the bad out weighs the good. (ironic considering the system was almost called the G-cube)
The Good is Awesome but the bad is.........SUCK.
Keep in mind when weighing here Import games don't count the game HAD to come out in the US.

Well, I've always been fond of Tech Romancer. Yeah even if the final boss is uber cheap with her (yes "her" see one of the endings) 4 life bars but Dixen makes that game for me oh and the Tank police parody too. Gotta toss out Bezerk as a good US Game. and I understand with a Gameshark Soul Fighter doesn't suck

Hmmm, i dunno. I'd call most of the lower-end titles average rather than flat-out bad. And the crappier titles were juiced up PSX ports. That's not to say that there were no bad games though. But you catch my drift You thought Fur Fighters was bad??? I'm quite partial to FF myself. I don't believe that the lower-end titles did anything to take away from the absolute gold that the DC gave us... to view a system based on it's shitty titles rather than it's good stuff seems silly to me. I don't know exactly what the US library was like, but I'm assuming the PAL library was nigh-on identical. And I was thrilled at what we got over here. The only sucky thing about the DC was that it died to early, before it's roster of games could become as rounded-out as it should have. I think the DC had and amazingly eclectic range of games, especially considering the amount of time it was on the market for... some I'm surprised even made it out of Japan (JSR, Space Channel 5 et.al). Had the DC been around longer, I believe more of those titles that were jap only would have at some point been released in the US and PAL territories. But that's just my two cents

Red Dog, Draconous, Silver, that game with the alien tanks are all argurably decent. I think the DCs small library just makes sure that the contrast between good and bad is really obvious. Where as say with the Playstation 2 where you don't so much notice the slew of Mediocre and poor titles because you're spoiled for choice on decent games.

I'm pretty much in the same boat... I felt the DC had a very inconsistent library. And if you aren't a fan of arcade ports of fighters, there aren't a ton of must-have imports.
Basically the only game I absolutely loved on the DC was Record of Lodoss War. Other games I enjoyed: Sonic Adventure, Illbleed, Maken X, Phantasy Star Online, Shenmue 1 & 2, Rent a Hero.

Of the 32 titles I own for the system, only three are bad. They are Blue Stinger, Deep Fighter and Soul Fighter (Soul Fighter is actually so bad, it's almost fun!)

Michiyo, you just reminded me of KISS Psycho Circus, now I must find it and see why it got a good review from PC World.

But that's just my two cents PAL regions got a few games that us Americans didn't get most notably you got Rez........we didn't Evil Twin which is supposed to be REALLY good. I believe there are others but those are all I can think of off the top of my head.

Michiyo, you just reminded me of KISS Psycho Circus, now I must find it and see why it got a good review from PC World. The PC version is apparently a not half-bad game. The DC port is the one that gets all the flak. I didn't see Bangai-O mentioned. How is that game?

If you look at the library of ANY platform, the ratio of good games to bad games always leans heavily in the favor of the bad ones. Mary Kate & Ashley and Barbie games alone comprise about 20% of the Gameboy Advance library.
Sega, and not just with the Dreamcast, has always had a higher volume of bad games, simply because Sega was such a cheap and easy company to develop for, and cheap and easy is what developers who make bad games are aiming for.

A ridiculously huge exception would be the Saturn, with its complex polygons, multiple processors, and horrible dev kit.

Right. And that's why it's hard to find a Saturn game that isn't worth $200 or more.
