What I meant by power over soul is exactly what everyone was bashing on the Xbox back when it was still new, that even though it was the most powerful of its generation it didn't have that many good games going for it.

Hmm...I never heard that complaint about the xbox, though I suppose it's a variation on the old "MS is a huge corporation who doesn't care about you at all" complaint that's been going on since the 80's, and which spilled onto the console wars when the xbox launched.
I actually thought the xbox had a pretty good launch based solely on Halo, which is undoubtedly the single most important launch game since Super Mario Brothers for the NES. I never heard that comment before, though. Learn something new every day, right?

How much you wanna bet Metal Slug came to XBOX to spite that asshole? Heheheheheh... I'm on the fence with Maddox. On the one hand, he's such an asshole that you gotta love him. On the other, he's sometimes TOO much of an asshole that it transcends coolness and goes into the Ninth Assholian Dimension of Pure Hatred. Anyway, it admittably really only had two outstanding games going for its launch (Halo and Munch's Odyssey, both of which I got when it was fairly new), but the XBOX has developed a sterling library. I personally think Microsoft can go perform explicit acts on a wildebeest's anus, but I have grown to admit that they've made a pretty damn good console. Hell, I only had to go through one XBOX, and that was because of a horrid lightning storm that fried its processor. That puts it ahead of the PS2 in technical terms for me, which failed twice for reasons unexplainable except for poor internal design. ... then again, I did have a first-generation PS2. Never making THAT mistake again... the only reason why I got the same one again is because the repair for the first time around was free. ... but I digress.

I never heard of Maddox, but the article is pretty bad...just because it's got PC innards doesn't mean it has no soul. Like I said, it's all in the games, and both the xbox and PC have great stuff.
Its 2d library was much better, I'm sure, than what everyone thought it would be at first, since it was a constant supply of western, 3d games and not much Japanese stuff. However, its controller was crappy for controlling games that required lots of buttons, like fighting games. It also didn't help that there were no good (any?) joystick, and the only option I knew of was to buy the Street Fighter pad to play stuff like Capcom fighters.
Then again, PS2 was my 2d console of choice last time around, so it's kind of a moot point.

I found 2nd S pad PERFECT for SNK fighters and Guilty Gear
