This is one of about a dozen games I got gifted a PAL SNES originally back in 2008 or so. Most of the other ones where first party titles, but this one was more unknown (to me at least). I'm kind of thinking played it back in the 90's when I was like 4 or something, but not sure.
Anyway, I did like playing through it some ten years ago or so, but don't remember too much about it. It's kind of slow-paced and easy, but I guess that makes it playable enough for young children, while still having enough of that Capcom polish to not make it enjoyable exclusively for young children. I guess I'll go for a rating of C.

Solid game with great visuals for the time though I prefer the sequels a bit if only for the coop. Unlike some of their NES games it changes up the main gimmick instead of exploring it more in-depth IIRC and doesn't feel quite as distinct nor fleshed out as DuckTales 2 for example.
I feel like it's between B and C after reading that comment about spongy bosses, guess I'll go with C.

I didn't play it until I was a bit out of the age range, but it's still a solid Capcom game. Mickey Mouse is such a boring character to me so it's never held my attention that well. C sounds about right.

The Magical Quest is a bit on the easy side. Easy to beat on the first playthrough. While Mickey hardly grabs me as a focal character, the different costumes add just enough variety in gameplay to keep things moving. Capcom did a reasonable job with the graphics and tight controls. Overall, not a game I care to revisit too much, so-so ending.
Rank: C+

This is a solid, maybe even a high B for me. It has some minor flaws but I think overall it's pretty enjoyable. It definitely looks and sounds great. The graphics in Capcom games of this era have a real warmth to them that meshes really well with Disney stuff. I like a lot of the fantasy environments like the vines with the helicopter tomato things at the beginning. Switching costumes is a fun gimmick and I think the game does a good job of making use of them. That animation can get annoying though.
I do agree that the bosses take a little too much punishment and I can never seem to collect enough coins to buy the items I want.

To quote that top-heavy dude from Fight Club: "You took the words right out of my mouth!"
Warmth is exactly what I was gonna describe the art as, it's a gorgeous game, detailed shading, pastel colours and all that. Charming audio, too. Back then I used to be under the impression of Magical Quest being a top tier game. So I'm honestly surprised that it's raining C-grades. And I though I was being the Negative Nancy here. Oh well. I don't think I can find much at fault with it these days either: It plays really well, with just enough of fresh ideas so it doesn't end up feeling bland. Yeah, I quite like those coptermatoes, even though they may be somewhat underused. (Also: Am I the only one who feels that part at the beginnning with that giant rolling tomato probably served as inspiration for Rayman's initial stages with those bouncy plums?) The one Magical Quest criticism mentioned here that certainly rang true with me is the bosses taking too many hits to defeat. And while I too feel than Mickey is a rather uninteresting character, he works rather well as a video game protagonist: I enjoy this game's sequels, Sega's Illusion series (both 16 and 8 bit), even two of his Crazy Castle GB games. I guess as long as the gameplay and the world are interesting enough, it doesn't matter whether the protagonist is a bit bland. His everymouse qualities may even be helpful to identify with him. (Mario isn't especially interesting either, to name another prominent example).
So what score to give then? It's bee a while, but I'm certain I like this a bit more than Gradius 3, which got a B from me. But I prefer Turtles in Time (A). Do I like it more or as much as Super Mario World (another A)? Maybe..., though SMW is certainly the more ambitious one, with way more replayability. Damn it, the system's broken already, or rather: the system broke me! (Which is doubly true when it comes to the real world.) Make that a B.

Fine I'll give it a B. I don't think it was mentioned that boss patterns change a bit depending on difficulty mode, and that there are hidden shops here and there, those are neat features. The game also inspired Flink, which is a decent game.

To be fair, for me it's a high C - as is Gradius III which I considered a hair above it. The alphabet needs more letters. Something between C and D and another between C and B would be great. ommadawnyawn2 - Don't allow farttrout to manipulate your vote this way!

It's kind of hard to rate things with a letter scale anyway I think. The gap between C and B seems pretty large. So what score to give then? Just give it an A man, we don't mind.

ommadawnyawn2 - Don't allow farttrout to manipulate your vote this way! Say what now!?
I mean, I like you quite a bit. But usually only people who've been reaaaally intimate with me are allowed to call me that (they've seen and heard things that can't be unexperienced, I'm afraid). I guess this is the moment when I have to decide whether to allow you into that special circle or to declare bloodfeud on you and your whole family.
...
still thinking
...
Okay fine, call me farttrout, but just this once.
edit: Considering the alphabet: I could've sworn mine had an extra letter between D and F. And that it didn't start with an S either. But it's been a while since I last checked, so I probably misremember. Must be that Mandela Effect or something.
To B or not to B - but when I say B, so B it.

S,A,B,C,D,F is how the kids do the alphabet these days, I swear. I'm just trying to stay young here. I kind of get an advantage in going first each week so not influenced by the choices of others here. Fortunately no game has been tainted with the first F just yet. windfisch - Far be it from me to tell you how to treat a lady but I hear the classics of wine and dining are still good for the kind of intimacy they're looking for.

So making your desired ones drunk and bloated is what does the trick? Man, I really would've needed that advice about ten, twenty years ago. But now I'm just a dried up King Fossil. There's plenty fish in the sea I've been told, but somehow encountering flatulencesharks, gassy-herings or assblowfish was and remains a pretty rare but potentially Great Thing.
