Thanks for posting the update shelverton. I"ll be editing the first post to make it easier to browse. Star Mobile is the next bonus game for the Mini. It was originally for X68000 and PC Engine. Such a random game for a fresh port, but I love seeing obscurities come back like that. There are suppose to be about 20 CD titles total according to the interview and we are at #8. Namco going all in here. Megapanel looks the most interesting of the batch it reminds me of Panel de Pon.

Seems like Popful Mail and Starblade didn't make the CD cut yet. Hoping we get Snatcher which was exclusively in English on the platform. Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers Tatsujin SEGA / Mega CD Titles Final Fight CD Lunar: Eternal Blue Lunar: The Silver Star Wondermega Collection And we have Lunar ladies and gentlemen. I really REALLY hope we get them on the Genesis Mini too. Final Fight CD is a good console version of the game. Spatter appears to be a new port, bonus game #3.

Man, what a difference in gaming roster. I may end up just getting both. The Mega Drive 2, particularly, for its unique set of Japan-only games. If Mega Drive mini 2 can get some RPGs, they should be made available for Genesis mini 2 as well. Besides the 2 Lunar games, there's also Vay that was translated. And Cobra The Space Adventure!

Few of the Japan only games are licensed so that doesn't bother me. We should be getting Lunar, Truxton, Final Fight in this batch. We have way less CD titles on our end which I am disappointed with so far. I preordered the US version anyway because what good are untranslated RPGs to me? And yes Vay would be a nice surprise.

Definitely Final Fight CD, should be a given. The vocals and the soundtrack is a great standout feature from all the other versions. Lords of Thunder and Keio are some more reasonable Sega CD shooters, to go with Silpheed.
I think some of Wolf Team's game catalogue could use a go too. El Viento, Earnest Evans, and Sol-Feace.

Next update for the JP Mini Mega Drive: Gain Ground Phantasy Star II Populous Sorcerian Tougi Ou: King Colossus Viewpoint Mega CD: Ecco the Dolphin CD Robo Aleste Romance of the Three Kingdoms III Shin Megami Tensei Tenka Fubu: Eiyuu-tachi no Houkou www.gematsu.com/2022/08/sega-genesis-mega-drive-mini-2-japanese-titles-34-to-44-announcedPlenty of games with heavy Japanese Text in this one. Worth noting that Viewpoint never came out in Japan so that is an import for them. I am guessing we will get Gain Ground, PSII, Populous and Viewpoint on Genesis side. Watch we get separate Ecco titles as filler. We got the first game on the original Mini, so we probably get Tides of Time this time. Hoping we get Robo Aleste. US version info is behind I guess they will give the full lineup on the last JP batch.

GSK did another interview translation. - Theme of the batch was "RPG"
- Ecco: Originally was meant to be on the Japanese Mini 1 but left off due to its "harder than it looks" challenge and poor 3DS version reception in Japan. Okunari wanted it on Mini 2 because he found it well made and high profile.
- Gain Ground: A requested console version. Probably more popular than Arcade original, and despite lack of vertical display the enhancements and tweaks made it a well done port.
- Sorcerian: Left off original Mini 1 due to "a focus on accessibility in lineup" being a "PC style game". Wanted in Mini 2 for its challenge.
- Phantasy Star II: Includes Easy Mode from Sega Ages PS2 version with double EXP/Money and tweaks to walking speed and encounters. Called PSIV from first Mini "better for RPG fans today" but mentioned that II is more impactful of the entries.
- King Colossus: Talks about Makoto Ogino who helped make the game, mangaka of Peacock King. Game included as an underappreciated gem.
- Populous: Wanted an overseas made title. Considers the game to have high learning curve, Okunari wanted titles on Mini 2 where players had to read the manuals for.
- Sangokushi III: Ranked High in reader polls for BEEP! and other magazines.
- Tenka Fubu: Another Game Arts title. Picked for being an early and first Game Arts Sega CD game. Final Game Arts title added to Mini 2.
- Dennin Aleste/Robo Aleste: M2 owns the rights to the game. Was actually requested by US staff (!) and Okunari didn't realize it had high scores. It was due to rebalancing and better load times. Was originally going to be exclusive to Genesis Mini 2 (!) but figured the differences made adding both versions worth it. In Japan the original version is seen as a dud.
- Shin Megami Tensei: Wanted an Atlus title on the Mini. There's a few content edits by Atlus request.
- Viewpoint: Wanted a Sammy game if they were to add an Atlus game. Wanted to bring the game to Japan for first time (was exclusively a US game). Notable for slowdown, has an overclocked mode. Thunder Force IV also has this feature.
EDIT: One detail I forgot the put in this summary, There are 20 CD titles one of them is exclusive to the US Genesis Mini. We are either getting a bunch of imports or the Genesis Mini 2 gonna get less CD games. Could also mean they DO have the English versions of Popful Mail and Lunar after all...

Oh, thank god they didn't include Super Thunder Blade. It seemed Sega had a non-stop obsession with that game.

4gamer interview summary. -Silpheed was vital to CD lineup, first game worked on in the whole mini. It was also used as a benchmark for emulation quality. -Some games were difficult to get on the Mini but happened. Captain Tsubasa had a ton of voice work which M2 had to track down contacts for actors on top of licensing the manga itself. -Genesis Mini 2 had about 20 exclusive titles. They tried to pick games that haven't been rereleased (such as Elemental Master). -Viewpoint and Thunder Force IV runs off TeraDrive's high speed mode to improve performance. -Phantasy Star II has easy mode with faster walk speed, money and experience increase and half the random encounters. -Theme for the bonus games was to realize what couldn't been achieved before. -Space Harrier II was redone for Genesis with greater sprite scaling. M2 was stubborn enough (wasn't asked to do it) but to include SH1 included as well. -Puyo Puyo Sun is a demake that is vs mode only. This was kinda ran out of time sort of title, instead of shelving and giving up they focused on vs mode instead of single player mode. Original box artist helped with the new cover. -Fantasy Zone was done by Hidecade by himself. (Note: He worked on the Darius port in first Mini) -Party Quiz Mega Q 2022 was a hobby project by Hiroyuki Miyazaki who wanted to do something like this before retirement. 3200 new questions in this version. -Spatter and Super Locomotive were ports made by M2 nearly 10 years ago but shelved. Couldn't make the 3DS Sega Ages or first Mini in time. -Devi and Pii is an unreleased and unnanounced game created by Takashi Iizuka (yes that Iizuka) in 1992 before he worked on Sonic 3. He made it during employee training but went on unpublished all this time. In case you were wondering, Lunar couldn't get English version because Sega Japan wasn't offering enough money for Vic Ireland. I hope we do get the original version or PS version of Lunar in English again elsewhere.

WD did a number on Popful Mail so I'm not sad that it didn't make the GM2. They didn't mess with either Lunar that much so that's more disappointing.

I really thought Quackshot would make it, especially since Mickey was on the first Mini. I wonder if we’ll ever see it anywhere again
