Hey folks, Has anyone played Izuna: Legend of the Unemployed Ninja for the DS? It's getting awful reviews, but console roguelikes (even the good ones) tend to get low scores anyway. As a roguelike how is it? Does it offer anything other than random dungeons? I feel that console roguelikes are at their best when they offer something different- such as Nightmare of Druaga and its legendary treasures based on obscure tasks, Azure Dreams and its town building, etc. Professional reviews have been unhelpful: www.rpgamer.com/games/other/nds/izuna/reviews/izunastrev1.htmlFor example, this review is obviously written by someone that doesn't like console roguelikes. His/her major complaint is that you lose everything if you should die (except for levels). That's pretty much a standard feature. He/she then goes on to say that there are better dungeon-crawlers available but doesn't give any titles as suggestions. There were no comparisons to similar games that would lead me to believe that the reviewer has played any other roguelikes. So, any comparisons to other roguelikes?

Alright, that was in the opposite direction. It is literally a perfect game??
From that review it doesn't sound like it's any different from Shiren the Wanderer, which is disappointing.

I've got Izuna in my GameFly queue - once I get it and have played it a while, I'll post my impressions here.

Wow. That is one of the most ridiculous reviews I have ever read. I dunno, compared to some reviews I've read in my time, that was Shakespeare. (: -Tom

GameFAQs, the site, is NEVER biased, because the ONLY reviews they post are from players. There is no "review staff", aside from possibly a self-proclaimed one. (:

I've given out my share of 10s as well, but that's largely because I usually only pick games I REALLY, REALLY LOVE to write reviews on. And I tend to justify my scores a little better. Though as I said, at least this guy gave SOME information in his review... I've seen ones that have basically said ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about the game except that it's great. This one at least tells you what KIND of game it is! (:

Wow. That is one of the most ridiculous reviews I have ever read. I agree. That's too much, even considering Gamefaqs standards... And I'd never hand out a 10/10 after 10 hours of gameplay. Actually,I'd never hand out a 10/10,but I digress.

I'd get it but I have other games I want to get first. Like Custom Robo Arena, Zoids: Battle Legends, and Pokemon Diamond.

So anyway, if anyone gets this and hates it and would rather have FF3 DS, I would be more than happy to trade.
