Guys, my forum has been overrun by bots. I'm at my wits end. They spammed the hell out of it a while back so I disabled guest posts... now they're joining. Bots are joining my forum. I get about 2 a day and I know they're bots. What can I do? The forum is at www.sevenhertz.net if you want to look at what I'm talking about. I know nobody goes there, but it's OUR forum. I don't want bots there, regardless.

Your problem is that you're using phpBB. That software has historically been very poor out of the box in terms of bot security. If you don't mind modding your forum, try using a different "captcha" system for user registrations, and rename some of the core PHP files to something different (modifying them so that the references are all intact) - the forums at www.zdoom.org did this by changing viewtopic.php to potato.php, and profile.php to salad.php.

I hear that a random letter generator can work wonders.
