This place has some serious potential to dethrone Gamefaqs. It's what Gamefaqs should be nowadays. Look at this FF6 walkthrough: strategywiki.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_VI/WalkthroughIt's filled with images from the bosses and areas. No need to use ascii art to make a map, here you just put the picture. And it's nice that anyone can edit it and add their own things. It is Wiki after all.

Crazy...I just started doing that, without hearing of this site at all. I'm taking FAQS I had on Gamefaqs and sprucing them up with images and step-by-step guidelines on my site. I know WHY GF doesn't exactly want them, but my site will give users the option to choose either the pretty one or a text document version.

You could also add it there. That site has tremendous potential! If I really had time to make FAQs full of images, item rips, weirdness, trivia and secrets I would. But I can't wait to see what people do with it once it gets more popular. I just found a complete Tower of Druaga walkthorugh there full of MAPS, screenshots, item sprites, monster sprites, descriptions, etc, etc. Too bad it doesn't work for the PCE version I know Gamefaqs doesn't do it because of potential abuse from people linking viruses and such. And you occasionally see pretty faqs with images on dedicated fan sites (like RPGamer) or from IGN and Gamespot. But the fact that this is editable by everyone makes it way better. For example, you could go and write up a text walkthrough, then I could come and add all the images and someone else can add maps, boss and item sprites. Come to think about it, maybe it won't dethrone gamefaqs just for the fact that no one actually owns the articles/faqs on wiki sites, while on gamefaqs YOU are the owner of the FAQ (so to speak).

There is something nice about having a huge archive of Game related text files... some dating back all the way from 1995.
The only negative things about Gamefaqs are the forums, and the advertising.
Anyway, this site is a good idea... though it already looks like it's a bit more complicated than it should be. I like to keep things simple. Where the &@#! is Guilty Gear?!

Someone needs to fix that one, someone like YOU! *dramatic music*
I guess that's the beauty of it.

On a kinda related note, there's a website I got thinking of while looking at that wiki: RPG Classics, it's RPG-specific, but you can find detailed strategy guides for nearly every RPG ever, but not just anyone can add there.

I'm a frequent contributor to StrategyWiki. I started the Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 articles and filled in most of the miscellaneous sections on them, in addition to fleshing out some of the Wario Ware games and starting a skeleton article for Splinter Cell.
