That's more money then convenience though..everything there could be done more humanly but would cost more. And no company wants to spend more. So why would you want to support that? -GoTaS

I hate when cheapness leads to suffering of animals. Alright I like the steel bolt threw head idea for the cows(its very painless and effective). But how could the bolts miss so often its not like the brain pan of the cow is in diffrent place from cow to cow. If they have to time to wait for the cow to die why not aim the bolt right? And why put chickens through suffication, its not like they dont have the man power or technology to ring a few hundred necks. The stuff done to the caffs is worst of all not only do they not live a full life but live a very shitty short one.
For the record I dont kill the bugs I find in my home unless they can sting or bite. I take spiders and set them outside. As little and stupid as they are, they can still feel pain just like us.

I think the worst parts is them tossing those dogs around in those cages and the last scene with the dog with no skin still alive and that poor cat in the bag fixing to get boiled. I remember one time my friends were trying to kill a squrill with a be be gun and they let me shoot and I "accidently" missed and scared it away. The only time I killed something and really didnt feel guilty was when there was a bunch of mice in my friends room and he shot one and it walked up to us wounded and stood there as if it wanted us to finish it off, it was really freaky.

Sorry, but the images of cats and dogs getting murdered combined with the "Over the Rainbow" music just doesn't settle well in my mind.
I've had cats around the house since I was born. So, after spending 18 years with cats I seriously regard them just as highly as I do people-- and I like people. Watching 1 minute of this was enough for me... It's a real shame to say the least.
And to thebagofsand-- you have scary friends, man (heh heh). And yes, animals can do some pretty freaky, "human" things sometimes...

I thought I was alone in protecting insects and spiders. Everyone always thinks I'm weird when I pick up insects and spiders in class and move them to a window. I never understood why people hate them so much considering spiders help out a lot in terms of keeping "pest" insects in check. I have an appreciation for animals. I have a cat that I love a lot and I admire him for his intelligence and complex emotions. He knows when I am upset or lonely when many of my friends and family don't see it. He is also pretty manipulative in trying to get what he wants out of me. Despite that I do still buy leather products and am still a meat eater. I may change my mind about the leather thing in the future but I will always be a meat eater. I only buy natural, free-range stuff when I can and I am content in my views on what I eat and try to be as fair to the animals I eat to the extent of my knowledge.

Exactly, I didn't say I'd support it GoTaS (and I hope by my comment you weren't jumping the conclusion that I did), it's simple..if company A operates 40% more cost effiecent and is inhumane to animals and company B operates with humanely to animals, Company A can either sell cheaper or make more profit allowing them easily to over take company B in the market.
The world runs on money and very rarely on what's fair and just, I'd support bills to prevent companies from being inhumane, I buy free range where possible (but some people simply can not afford to..minimum wage trying to raise a family for instance doesn't exactly allow you to spend extra money on ideals). But it's just not possible unless governing bodies come in and stop it because the fact is simple while people can do it..they will and not everyone can afford to wage a war with the man as it were.

...And that is why every slaughterhouse uses some kind of anesthetic, like shock or gas, before taking the lives of lifestock. [horrible HORRIBLE treatment] I find that hard to believe since: 1) It's much cheaper to fill chicken meat with water after slaughtering, to weigh it down, than stuff them full of hormones throughout their lifecycle. 2) Most western countries actually have anti-animal mutilation laws, which would pretty much ban most of this kind of behaviour. 3) I've actually worked in a slaughterhouse, I've checked animals to see if they're conscious before they're led to the slaughterchamber.

Yeah, whenever I find in a spider in the apartment I'll either let it be or capture it and let it go outside. Same with beetles. Ants are generally too small to worry about so I let them be unless there's an infestation. I'll kill flies though, so I guess they cross my line. We once had a yellowjacket nest on our window and it was sort of cool watching them build it... but once they started getting in and stinging us I had the landlord gas the nest. At our old apartment we had a mouse and I couldn't bring myself to do anything about it. I tried leaving the door open hoping it would run out but it never did and I just couldn't bring myself to kill it with a trap.

From what I hear traps leave a big mess. The poison pellets dont work, because if you got food in your room why would they go to the poison.

There are many humanitarian traps on the market that capture but don't hurt the rodent. And cheese doesn't work that well, bred or chocolate is what they are generally crazy about.

My theory is that if the poison smells sweeter, then the rats would obviously go for the poison, since they wouldn't know that it was.
