Anyone ever tried to play this on any emulator? It's a Japan-only game, and every emulator I've tried (GENS+, KEGA Fusion, XEGA) crashes as soon as you try to talk to anyone. All of the pictures I've found online take place before this section, and as far as I can tell, no one else has brought it up. I know there was an emulator compatability list awhile ago, but I can't seem to turn anything up. Anyone else ever tried it? EDIT: You can download the ISO here: www.gametronik.com/site/fiche.php?cat=mega_cd&fiche=Shadowrun

Kurt, did you try switching the BIOS to the Japanese one? Remember that the BIOS for Sega CD are different for each region as opposed to Turbo CD. I know it sounds like something obvious but maybe you forgot.

I would think that if it's a bios issue, the game wouldn't run at all with an American bios.

It could be that there's a conflict with the mp3's too.

Hmmm, I remember talking with some guys at a bar when I once tried this game on Gens. Seemed to work perfectly, but I couldn't advance much, thanks to lack of Japanese knowledge. I don't have the working(?) ISO anymore, but I downloaded it by using eMule. Also, did you tried to look Shadowrun (Mega CD) screenshots from MobyGames?

I just tried the game and it worked fine for me.
It must be bios problems.

Got it working thanks to Rey, I had a bad ISO dump. It's...an interesting game, to say the least.
I'm not sure how to feel about the 360 Shadowrun. When they first announced it, I was desperately hoping it'd be an FPS/RPG hybrid like Deus Ex, but it ended up being a standard multiplayer focused Deathmatch shooter. It might end up being decent for the genre, from what I'm hearing, but that's not really my type of game.

They should make another one like the SNES version.
Kurt, if you manage to beat the SCD Shadowrun, would it be possible for you to send me the .brm or save state at the last boss?

I think I'm gonna quit for now. I'm stuck at one of the several annoying maze areas, just running around in circles. Got to the fifth scenario though, out of I don't know how many, so I guess that's not too bad.
Some of the battles are REALLY frustrating. The only way I won them is by save states.

Gens has save state support for Sega CD games now? That's very interesting.... If you really want to keep playing the game I think you're gonna have to make a map for that maze (I assume it's in 1st person view?). Use one of those gridline papers or squared paper, whatever it's called.

Nah this maze is one of the overhead ones. It's probably not THAT hard, I just got annoyed at a single battle taking a half hour because of how cheap it all is.
But yeah, the version of GENS I'm using has save states, and I don't think I could've beaten some of these segments without it.

The more I think about it, the idea of Shadowrun as an FPS isn't that bad (but being basically Unreal Tournament with a Shadowrun setting is, however, something to complain about). I have a copy of the 1st edition Shadowrun rulebook published by FASA and one thing I wouldn't mind seeing is an adaption that accurately conveys the rules of said edition. Honestly I think an FPS (or an FPS-RPG) has the best chance of that. The SNES and Genesis games came close but there's no way they'd have been able to go all the way without being unrealistically difficult.
