Hey Kiddies,
Just wondering if there are places that will repair my PS2 controller. I have no idea what happened to it, but it simply goes beserk and will only tap up. I know I can always buy a new controller, but I bought a white PS2 from Japan, and I don't see any replacement controllers in that color. It would be a shame to mess up the color scheme...
Or do you kids know how to fix them? I really just want to keep the outer shell, so will that be a better solution? Thanks!

Here's an idea: Step one: buy a new controller of any colour Step two: cover every button and hole with that really weak tape that peels right off Step three: paint the controller! Step four: use a delicate pencil to cover what little is left to cover with paint. Step five: watch as your controller most likely explodes from over-heating. Step six: buy this thing!

You can swap out the white casing for the new controller - just undo the screws in the back, and all the parts can be easily moved out. Also good because you can give the casing a good washing in alcohol or something to freshen it up as well.

Just make sure it's an original Sony pad, I've got bad experience on 3rd party pads only having diagonal movement, which doesn't help my Viewtiful Joe game much, and makes quarter-circles a nightmare.

Or as an absolute last resort... find a PS1 controller (one from when Sony released the small PSX). They're also white.

But they haven't got any pressure sensitivity!

Thanks kids! Oooh, a clear controller, I guess that could work. I thought about buying a new one and using the old case too, but wasn't sure if only professionals can do it.
Hmm...I tried plugging in a PS1 controller into the slot...and it's not responding at all...does that mean perhaps my PS2 is...*gasp* fried?

I've never gotten a PSone controller to work in a PS2, slim model or otherwise.

I got a Dual Shock 1 to work on a Playstation 2 Slimline, just plugged it right in and there it was!

You may need to press the analog button in the middle of the controller to get it to respond, kino. Check that out.

The PSone controllers aren't white, they are only a lighter shade of gray than regular PS controllers. Swapping the case sounds like a good idea. I'll do it if my white controller ever stops working.
