I've heard different stories about which games don't work and under which conditions. All 52 games run fine in the Mac version of Nestopia, but it's sketchy on some other emulators, sometimes to the point where none of them run. There are two versions of the game in the No-Intro set. The one labeled [Rev1] is the one that has the two games that don't work. So I guess they fixed a bug in one of the other games... but didn't notice they broke two games.

Gee, I forgot about this article entirely. I've never messed around with these multi-carts Many pirate multicarts are rather better than the Action 52, actually.

That's cause a lot of pirate multicarts are just compilations of existing games, most of the ones I've played have been collections of early Famicom stuff, complete with games that didn't actually get released here, like Ikki (renamed "Ninja" for some reason) or Macross, sometimes they inflate the number of games by including a bunch of hacked versions of the same game that start on different levels, or with a different number of lives.
Action 52 is unique in that it's 52 original games. 52 really really bad original games, but still.

Anyway, an update might be in order, since there's a TIGSource project to remake the Action 52, but it's a bit more interesting than that: forums.selectbutton.net/viewtopic.php?t=27735forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=12439.0

Just found this on YouTube:
The Action 52 commercial... and the only animated appearance of the Cheetahmen.
The fake accents for each of the Cheetahmen are just bad. REALLY bad. And hilarious too.

Yup. Completely real.
I initially didn't believe it either.

That absolutely needs to be linked to in the article.

I don't know if it's just me, but that ad makes me want to play some Action 52! I hear it's smooth as ice!
(That aside, I really wonder where the uploader dug that up from. From his description it sounds like he just stumbled across it. I wonder if he found it in an old tv recording?)

He says in the comments that he got it from a tape he received while working for Active Enterprises. There are other versions of the ad with subtitles in different languages.

Just wanted to make one revision to the article:
In this paragraph about the genesis version:
I'd like to change that last line, because it's come to my attention (better late than never) that FarSight was involved with The Pinball Arcade.

Double post (sorry) but I'd like to ask something about the review. It's criticizing the misspelling, but the paragraph is guilty of misspelling and having grammatical errors itself. [q]The graphics here are, as far as menus go, pretty good, and there's no obvious indication of a major problem, but closer inspection reveals something else. For many of the games, the allotted space isn't big enough to fit the full title, leading to some of the games being given either abbreviated titles, or misspelled ones. Bubblegum Rossie becomes bubblegum Rosy, Star Evil becomes Startevil. Ninja Assault becomes Ninja Asault, and so on. Stragely enough, Dedant is apparently supposed to be spelled that way, and is not a shortening of Dead Ant.[/q]
