This was the 2nd version of the original game, released 2 years after the original version, and predating the U.S. version by a year. This version features, in my honest opinion, the best version of the FF1 soundtrack ever (and I'm not even a huge fan of FF). The music was rearranged by MicroCabin's Tadahiro Nitta, who, in my honest opinion, did a splendid job recreating all of Uematsu's 21 original compositions for MSX2 home computers.

Great soundtrack, yes, but not-so-great game the MSX2 version. The awfully slow screen scrolling really kills the game.

It's not a remake, it's a port. But I agree about the music, it was like playing the NES version but with higher quality synth.
