I'll probably officially update later tonight (need nap/food) but here's a new submitted article about Haunting Starring Polterguy. I kinda like Haunting because it's so strange...but at the same time, it doesn't feel like there's much to the game. Sorta like Panic, except this is slightly more involved. Discuss! www.hardcoregaming101.net/haunting/haunting.htm

I liked it ;D
But seriously, tell me what you guys think so I can improve on future articles. It would be of great help.
BTW Kurt, I've never seen the evil jack-in-the-box scare, and that's the first room of the first mansion!

I remember playing that game. I only got to the second stage before I got bored with it, though. It was fun seeing what crazy thing would happen when you possessed something, but the poor controls and not being able to really direct which ran when you scared them out of a room is what sunk it for me.

Short but interesting. Might have to hunt down the rom and fire up an emulator to try it out.

Same here.Haunting is an original, refreshing concept spoiled by poor gameplay and horrible controls. By the way, have you ever played Ghost Master for the PC?It has a very similar concept(using ghosts in order to scare people),but it's much more playable...

Wow, I thought I was the only person who remembered that game. It was pretty fun, but I remember I kept getting my head handed to me in those underworld stages.

sorry to bump an old topic but I loved this game quite dearly back in '93. I remember renting it from THE WHEREHOUSE (remember those? on a side note this past year I was in a town I never been to before, about 40 minutes away from my home, and I stopped by to ask for directions, and I saw a WHEREHOUSE.... it was so surreal I thought they had all gone to the big rental outlet in the sky) over all the pretty SNES games they had -- the cover just grabbed me. This game gets mixed with General Chaos a lot.
Never did beat the game, though.

This game gets mixed with General Chaos a lot. I guess it doesn't help that both of them are on the website? ;D On a semi-related tangent, I saw three very rare and expensive PS1 imports recently, all of which were featured on this site. One of them was priced at about $150... ack. And back on focus, this is an overdue congraturation on a damn good article for a damn good game. Oh, the different ways to scare those bastards... loads of fun. Though, I dislike it when I run out of energy and I'm forced to the underground, but I guess that's incentive to try and avoid that part!

^ agreed regarding the underground lair sections when you run out of energy. Those are very annoying and I always seem to get down to the last family member, and just run out of ectoplasm. boo =P
