It was called the Pokemon Mini. I never paid any attention to Pokemon Mini because I thought it was the same as that Tamagotchi clone Pokemon Pikachu. But Pokemon Mini is actually a full fledged handheld system in which used post stamp sized cartridges, it had rumble, an accelerometer and an infrared port for multiplayer. The games are no different from those you could see on the VMU and Pocketstation, albeit Pokemon Related. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_miniIt's a pretty nice and obscure handheld from Nintendo even if the games look very primitive. Here is the emulator and all the roms that were released. Download the file, even if you don't care about it, because I won't post it again. To run the games, just click on the exe, select load bios, then select load game and then select Control -->Run -->Full speed. rapidshare.com/files/159154614/Pokemon_Mini_emu_and_roms.rar.html

I sold mine with all bar one of the UK released games for £50 about 6 weeks ago ;D It's got a ton of features for something so small - vibration, IR, accelerometer; and the screen is really nice and sharp. Pokemon Pinball is an excellent game, I spent far too long on it

In it's own right it's a neat little device with the smallest carts ever and the games are surprisingly good for something so well branded. In comparison to other handhelds/handheld games you could get for the same money though... no, it's not.

Did you know the Pokemon Mini could do 3D? Check out this awesome demo called Shizzle! www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcfs3RXV9O8I find it amazing how much demoscene coders can get out of such lowtech hardware, makes you wonder what they could do if the PS3 Linux opened up!

I remember seeing these in stores everywhere years ago. Now I regret not having bought one back then. I knew about all those features though when it was released, there were a couple of articles in the video game magazines I read at that time. But man, that is indeed an impressive demo.

I heard somewhere that the orginal Gameboy could handle colors but it was never intended to be used. on to get ontopic : yeah i knew about it, but i think the games are more rarer than the actual pockemon mini itself

I thought that the console had a pedometer and not an accelerometer.

From Wikipedia -
I can't remember if any of the games use it as a pedometer, but one of the party games needs you to shake your Mini and the accelerometer is used for that. The Pikachu mini (and the Sakura Taisen mini) LCD handheld/toys use it as a pedometer.

I remember seeing it as a prototype on a gaming magazine, though never imagined it was actually comercialized.

I remember back in the early 00's when people at my school were bragging about having this. It was like that awful pocket pikachu thing.
And X wasn't really 3D, it was like that vector tank game back in the 80s. It's cool though, developed by the same guys who did Star Fox 1, 2 and DS.
