BC83: I thought about adding Commando, but A: Time restraints were becoming a bit of a pain, and B: I figured that Commando/Mercs/Gun.Smoke should be in its own seperate article. Kurt: Super Joe was the hero of BC?!? Holy shitdamn, I never knew that!!! I must ask, whereabouts didst ye perchance upon yon information? MZ: Are you proposing... A NEW BIONIC COMMANDO GAME?!?!? ;D

Super Joe was the hero in the Arcade BC. You needed to rescue him in the NES one. www.arcade-history.com has all your arcade info.

You can download the history.dat on that website for your mame. You'll get all the info whenever you select a game in Mame.

Well, the information in the Capcom Classics Collection says the hero is Super Joe, but also says he's the hero of the NES version. I knew that last part was flat-out wrong, but I did some googling and confirmed at least the first part.

Wait here's what I know Super Joe from the game Commando becomes Bionic Joe from Bionic Commando, so then Bionic Joe becomes Captain Commando from Captain Commando perhaps?

I just realised that the the Blue guy from Mercs looks allot like the the dude from Forgotten Worlds any connection their?
EDIT: I got it now
SuperJoe from Commando becomes Bionic Joe then he becomes the 1st player from Mercs then becomes the guy from Forgotten Worlds then becomes Captain Commando who becomes Viewtiful Joe who becomes Hunk from RE4 Mercenaries Other possible Evolution's
Sonson=Mega Man Vega=Blind Monster from RE4 Strider=Zero=Vergil Tonton=Dante Vulgus Bug's=Exed Eyes Bugs=Misqutoes from DMC=RE4 Bug's Second Boss from Trojan=Akuma
Also the Final boss from Trojan looks allot like Bionic Joe but has a Katana which could be the missing link between Joe and Strider and his relatives
Not only that but theirs a small tribute to Gunsmoke in RE4 and their are allot of similarities aesteckicly between the 2(Cow's wooden houses hay barrels dynamite wells rifles water villages weapon upgrades)
The blind kid from Killer7 might also be connected to the Joe blood line.
Can anyone think of any other stuff like this because some of these similarities are to blatent to be coincidences.

Here's one I know for sure In Ghost's n Goblin's on the first level their is a floating weaving sheild enemy that makes an alarm like Noise and in DMC3 their is a floating weaving sheild enemy that makes an alarm like Noise that apears in the thinner straight hallway's of the tower,Bolth enemy's can only be harmed from the back and bolth have lances. and in the Game Veiwtiful Joe the Horned Fire boss spin's like a tornado just like the enemy's right across the bridge on the first level of Ghouls n Ghost's. Also I was kinda suprized when I realized that the one level in VJ where you haft to duck from the giant rocket's was completly stolen from the last level of Konami's SNES version of Sparkster. The crow's from RE4 drop Gold when you kill them exactly like in the Ghost n Goblin's series. In the game Cannon Spike Arther from GnG makes an aperance as well as Cammy and Vega.(AKA Balrog) Simble's from Vulgus Gunsmoke Son Son and Side Arm's all appear in the Game Strider2 In the Genesis version of SF championchip addition at the main menu the curser you use to select stuff with at the menu are three symbol's from old Capcom shmups one's the Yoshichi from Vulgus an enemy from Side Arm's and the thrid one I don't reconize. Theirs a Turtrle boss in Trojan very simaler to a few bosses in the MM series. The boss of the Train level in MMX4 is very similar to the VJ boss I mentioned earlier. Sorry about my spelling.

Also in Giga Wing for Dreamcast the 4th level boss resembles a boss from forgotten world's and a character from Dark Stalkers. capcom probaly let Takumi use the character seeing as they let Psikyo use Alucard and Morringan in Gunbird2 as well as Mega Man and BB Hood in Cannon Spike.

It's something i've been working on. It's purely concept. I'm working on a new bionic arm. It functions the same (The game will be a kind of psuedo-2d/3d) but because you play with a mouse it tracks for better strategy and quicker gameplay
Also if anything it'd work for dante
Strider > Zero > Dante

Fun fact, theres a very annoying enemy in the Megaman series called a Sniper Joe, that green thing that hides behind a shield, then fires a single pellet. Some later games got variations and improvements, with Joes doing everything from biking, using (first ever) ride-armor, and being in the way.

Great article, and a good subject for it! I didn't have a NES myself when I was a kid, but Bionic Commando is actually the only NES game I remember being blown away by when playing at friends' houses. There's a small error though - it's Tim Follin who did the c64 soundtrack, not Tom.

Probaly another connection I was thinking about the evolution of the Joe's for awhile and when I realized about VJ I was quite suprized that this old charcter is still evolving even today,Hunk was a bit of a strecth but he's in a game mode called Mercenaries and I know his name means something special.(I'm assuming it's a criptic reference)

The Mercs guys are completely different people (though the game IS the official sequel to Commando in Japan). Battlefield of the Wolf and Battlefield of the Wolf II over there.
Super Joe is also the Captain Commando seen in the game of the same name and the Marvel vs. Capcom games (this isn't Radd/Ladd Spencer/Bionic Commando/etc).
But yeah Capcom reuses tons of its enemies in various games. The boss of the second level in Ghouls N' Ghosts (Firelord) is confronted in Demon's Crest as well in area three. Losing your armor and being reduced to your underwear is something that happens not only in the GnG series but also in Midnight Wanderers: Quest for the Chariot as well as the awesome Black Tiger/Black Dragon.
