Gauntlet IV is, for all intents and purposes, the original Gauntlet with an experience system. There's nothing really spectacular or brilliant about the game itself, but there's one thing that's absolutely awesome about it: the music. In Quest Mode, you're not just given the usual silence like in the arcade titles, you get all sorts of heroic orchestrated music. This stuff is awesome and I thought I'd just like to point you guys out to it. In particular, the Fire Tower (Sortie) and Wind Tower (Transparent Obstacle).
Oh, did I mention that this soundtrack was done by Masaharu Iwata and Hitoshi Sakimoto?

I totally agree... the music is really awesome. Must be my favourite Megadrive music, can't think of anything better than it right now :-)
What other music has those two composers done?

Pretty much anything that Sakimoto and his friends touched using that very distinct Data East-era Genesis music engine turned boring drivel into shocking pieces of magic. Verytex is one notable example. As for some other works Sakimoto has done that's worth noting: Devilish, Midnight Resistance, Captain America and the Avengers, and Midnight Resistance. See here for the complete list.

Midnight Resistance is so awesome it HAS to be listed twice in the same post! Surely they did Heavy Barrel as well? Devilish is one of the best. Stupid US release. Devilish: The Next Possession. As opposed to Devilish the first?
