Looking for a usable Virtual Boy with the Wario Land game. Anybody know of a way to get one for cheap? Any eBay links worth looking into? Don't want to spend more than $50 if I have to.

I don't think you'll find a copy of Wario Land on the VB for $50 nevermind a VB to go with it dude, you're gonna have to break out some $100+ in my estimations.

As long as it doesn't have to be complete, Wario Land shouldn't be too bad. For a Virtual Boy, you're probably looking at $50 at the bare minimum, and even then it may be iffy to get one at that price that actually has the visor and a stand that isn't cracked. Be really careful buying a Virtual Boy; they aren't exactly known for their durability. It's very common for one of the screens to go dead if it's taken a shock at some point, so check that first and foremost.

This is HARDCORE gaming haha ;) (really though- more hardcore to collect a game alone or a fully boxed one? I wonder...)

I don't care about the completeness of the game, as long as I get the cartridge. As for the VB, yeah, I've heard about how fragile they can be. Buyer beware, and all that. I didn't think they'd be so expensive, though, I thought people were trying to get rid of them?

I didn't think they'd be so expensive, though, I thought people were trying to get rid of them? I think that was the case until it became a popular "joke" console- that and the fact it wasn't released in Europe and is one of Nintendos few utter failures? That's my guess anyway- it and the 64DD are stupidly rare.

It's usually the unpopular stuff that people didn't want at release that becomes more expensive later on. Stores were desperate to get rid of Virtual Boys back when they were new, but that lack of popularity back then results in fewer systems available these days. If you look at say, the Genesis, everybody and their brother had one, so it's no problem finding one cheap now. Combine its relative scarcity with the fact that people are realizing that there are quality titles in the Virtual Boy's library that are truly worth experiencing, and you get enough demand for any single unit to raise the price higher than the average retro system.
