Just wondering if anyone on here has any tips for running Final Fantasy 9 on ePSXe? I have an older PIII 866 and a cheesy but decent Geforce 6200 pci series card with 256 Ram and the game actually runs really well except when I get to the overworld. I've got the game running very stable and well in and outside of battle but the 3D overworld slows down somewhat and the sound gets choppy. I can enable frame skipping and that fixes the hiccups in the overworld phases but when I get into battle its just a choppy, skippy mess. I did try this with the original FF9 discs (I do own the game) and then made an iso out of it thinking maybe it was CD driver probs or related to that. Either way it runs the same. I really just want to have my cake and eat it too , getting the full game to run right. I have experimented with every plugin I can find and the only thing that stopped the skipping sound was another sound plugin, but in that case the sound was very slowed down. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it very much. Just to make it clear, I'm not trying to run a downloaded ROM, I' m running it from either the copy I own or from an ISO that I made from those legit cd's. Thanx everyone

If you're not too early in, try seeing if you can run it better from this emulator: psxemulator.gazaxian.com/It doesn't use plugins, so there's nothing to worry about with setup or anything.

The two emulators should be able to take the same memory card images.
