I love it how this thread went downhill right after mercafat posted his decidedly not very humble reply.

While admittedly my first responses may have been a bit incisive, and purposely so, I think it's become clear that I've taken the concerns stated to heart and will be working on reworking bits to become more acceptable to this site's environment.
As I've said, I wrote a lot of what I did to test the limits of what's acceptable- not to be a dick, but to figure out what the audience here believes is what HG101 is and what it shouldn't be.
Clearly, joke pieces are not in order, even with terrible jokes of games. That's fine, and I'm willing to accommodate that.
Trust me, I hold no ill will towards even what I feel are the most inane or completely head-scratching of reactions; as a person who loves the unique characteristics of every human's opinion, I find your opinions genuinely fascinating.

Y'know, you said something earlier about trying to write articles with a broader appeal. I think that's a great idea. I just don't know if this article was the way to do it.
My point here, is that I think it's more important to go for as many hits as possible, than it is to just write what's expected from the site. No one gets excited about the expected, and shouldn't we be trying to write the best articles possible? I mean articles that people will really take notice of?
Now how would we do that? I don't know, I wish I could tell you. But I do think we could at least start making an effort.

Hey, mercatfat, you were the one who made the Ultra Balloon article, right? I thought that article was a good enough mix of humor and gameplay information, so maybe you could make it a little more like that.
