What images exactly? The only recently added image says it was taken from shmups.com. The title screen image says it was taken using nestopia and not from any site.

Get this...
I was just lurking around shmups.com's forums, and I found a post about Recca that mentions a hidden mode locked away in the game. It's called Zanki Attack, and it's so out of control that even after having played this game a bazillion times before I was still completely in awe of how intense it is. It plays just like the normal game, except you get 50 lives and enemies release at least four suicide bullets in random directions after exploding. Bosses absolutely FOUNTAIN out the things.
There's also other cheats, like a ST mode where you can play all of the music in the game and even some extra tracks that were left out. The ST screen even shows the game's "mascot", Recca-chan! There's also an infinite lives cheat and a level select code that even lets you start at any of the stages in the second wave. I tried it out and it all works perfectly.
Would you like me to write up a brief paragraph mentioning all of this crap? I could also send in a screenshot of Recca-chan, if you'd like. Or is this all really irrelevant for an older piece like this?
Here's the text pasted directly from shmups.com:
Zanki Attack: Reset the game, and hold A+B. Push and hold Start to begin a normal game, without releasing A+B. Finally, push and hold Up+Select.
Sound Test: From the title screen, select Normal Game and push Start to begin. Before the screen fades, push and hold Select. The top number is for soundtracks, the bottom number is for effects. Track titles (from OST) and game locations follow:
Code:
01 - AD2302 - Unused 02 - Recca - Title, Area 7 03 - Jetter - Stage 1a, Area 5a 04 - M.O.M - Stage 1b, Area 3, Area 5b 05 - Hyde - Stage 2, Area 6 06 - Hiener - Caravan a 07 - Elm-39 - Stage 3, Stage 4 08 - Gelgoog - Caravan b 09 - Tera - Area 2 10 - Deepspace - Area 4 11 - Crisis - Boss fights 12 - Bostune - Final boss 13 - Death-troy - Ending 14 - Over - Game Over 15 - D.A.D - Area 1 16 - Lovin' You - Unused 17 - Dreamin' You - Unused 18 - Throbbin' You - Unused
Change Limit: After a reset, before the title screen, some swirling text appears. Hold Select while this text fades, and a dialog saying CHANGE LIMIT will appear. Push Start to exit.
Stage Select: Access the sound test without releasing Start. Push A+B+Select, and a number should appear in the lower right, indicating the starting stage. Pushing A+B+Select again will increment that number. 01-04 correspond to Normal Game stages, 05-11 are Hard Game stages, and 12 is the Score/Time Attack stage. If Hard Mode is active, 05 will show to begin with. Push Start when done, and shoose Normal Game.
Infinite Lives: Access the Change Limit screen. While holding A+B+Up+Select, push Start to return to the main menu, and begin any game mode (including Zanki Attack).

Well, considering how little information there is about the game I'm all for that info to be included in the article. Maybe not as detailed, but it should be included nonetheless.

I took like three screenshots to put along side the text. You'll get those soon.
Here's the text about the extra stuff. If you think that the second paragraph with the cheat codes is needless or excessive, then feel free to just put in the first paragraph. Or you could combine the two. Whatever, doesn't really matter. Anyhow, this should go before the final outro paragraph.
As if this all weren't crazy enough already, there's also a hidden mode called Zanki Attack that's even more intense. It plays like the normal game, except that you get fifty lives and when enemies explode they'll release four or more suicide bullets in random directions, perpetually flooding the screen with shots. Another secret gives you access to a sound test where you can even listen to tracks that were left out of the game. There's also a "Change Limit" screen, and another code for infinite lives. If you'd like to skip straight to the second wave then you can do that, too, via a level select cheat.
The cheat codes, by the way, are... Zanki Attack: Reset the game, hold A & B, hold Start to choose Normal Game, then hold Select and Up before the game begins. Sound Test: Hold Select immediately after starting Normal Game. Change Limit: Reset, then hold Select during the swirling text animation. Infinite Lives: Access Change Limit, then hold A, B, Up, and Select, and push Start. Level Select: Access Sound Test without releasing Start. Then push A, B, and Select to set your starting level.

This is a quite informative, yet enthusiastically written article, which I mostly appreciate. But on one occasion that enthusiasm went too far for me: "the losers who programmed Gradius 3 for the SNES should've looked at this and committed harakiri". This made me feel really uncomfortable. I know it is not supposed to be taken seriously and I assume it was not meant to actually offend anyone. But I still think that suggesting real people to kill themseleves sounds unnecessarily spiteful rather than funny. And the usage of a stereotype ("harakiri", because they are Japanese) only makes it worse.
Maybe this could be altered to sound a little less aggressive, while still transporting the same core idea (which I interprete as something like: the programming is impressive, especially compared to the subpar programming in Gradius 3)?

Summer Carnival '92 didn't just have Recca (or Rekka, as there are Fire Emblem: Rekka no Ken and Flame of Rekka). There was also Alzadick for PC-ENGINE CD-ROM2.
