ahhhh, sorry about that. His single L.E.F. sounded to me like it could have been on Daft Punk's "Human After All" CD.

Hmmm, favorite genres. It's kind of hard to pinpoint it, I'm all over the place. But I have a pretty strong taste in music (I know what I like and I like what I know). That said, I seem to lean towards the progressive, experimental and the symphonic. Artists that I like:
-The Mars Volta -Pink Floyd -King Crimson -Genesis -Deftones -Portishead -Radiohead -Camel -Futurecut -Nine Inch Nails -Mindless self indulgence -Rush -Fantomas -Van der Graaf Generator -Massive Attack -Deepeche Mode -Doves -Jethro Tull -Godspeed you black emperor -Tool -Tom Waits -Nick Cave -Dj Shadow -Unkle
...and many more.

I generally like metal and progressive rock, as well as psychedelic, stoner, and noise rock/metal. I'm pretty picky when it comes to music... like with movies and games, there are certain things that REALLY bother me and will leave me disinterested. My big things with music is lyrics... the band singing and playing the song absolutely has to write their own material. And the lyrics have to be at least tolerable. I can put up with Dio's Dungeons & Dragons lyrics and some of the sillier metal stuff, and actually like nonsensical/vague lyrics like you might find in a song by The Mars Volta. I can't stand sappy/cliche stuff. I also can't stand groups that noodle around on their instruments like they have something to prove. Dream Theater comes to mind.
Anyway, some bands I like:
-Arcturus (awesome Norwegian progressive metal) -Dio (Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Dio) -Boris (Japanese group that alternate between heavy rock bordering on punk and experimental drone and atmospherics) -Borknagar (somewhat similar to Arcturus but closer to black metal) -Bruce Dickinson/Iron Maiden (I find his solo career a lot more interesting than his work with IM... Chemical Wedding is a fantastuc metal album) -Chage & Aska (I enjoy their earliest albums (folk) and their newest albums. In between was a lot of awful J Pop) -Frantic Bleep (ridiculously awesome band with only one album out currently. Expert musicians... like Dream Theater with the sappy lyrics replaced with nonsense/stream of thought and a distinct lack of instrument noodling!) -Goatsnake (very cool "rhythm and doom" band) -Marillion (I only have "Brave" which has really grown on me) -The Mars Volta (awesome progressive metal with elements of jazz) -Mr. Children (really great Japanese rock group that really hit their stride with "Shinkai." Earlier albums are very J Pop as opposed to their deeper more recent albums) -Pink Floyd -Porcupine Tree (I can only enjoy their latest two albums. In Absentia is really awesome and seems to have the concept of a serial killer going on. I found Stupid Dream to be really whiny and petty, lyrically) -Queens of the Stone Age -The Stars (Japanese psychedelic rock group with Michio Kurihara on guitar and You Ishihara on vocals... You is interesting because he sounds like a Japanese Jim Morrison at times. He sings in English (at least on the album I've got) and it's strange because at times he has no accent at all, and at others his accent is so thick it's hard to make out the lyrics) -Sunn O))) (experimental drone artists who collaborate with all sorts of interesting people. Their collaboration with Boris (Altar) is a work of art!!) -Ulver (yet another amazing Norwegian band... progressive metal with hints of electronica)

Kyouki, based on some of the bands you've listed, you might enjoy Sigh ( www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=51), if you don't know about them already, particularly their later albums. Anyway, I mainly listen to metal (some favorites include Nocturnus, Watchtower, Summoning, Drudkh, Atheist, and so on), but also listen to a lot of prog/experimental rock (King Crimson, Hawkwind, Can, Frank Zappa), and electronic/industrial (Kraftwerk, Aphex Twin, In Slaughter Natives).

Oddly enough, I think the only thing we can all agree on is Rhapsody and Dragonforce. I seen Dragonforce a few months ago at a local gig and man, I felt too old for the audience. I did however grin my face right off when they played Kens music from Street Fighter 2 when they went on stage

Exalt on the suggestion! I picked up Sigh's Gallows Gallery and it is pretty cool. The CD starts out on a low point as the first track sounds really screwed up... like it wasn't produced correctly. I am thinking they may have muddied the vocals in production to hide some of the shortcomings there but ended up worsening it. However, it definitely picks up by Track 2 and continues strongly throughout. Ater listening to it I went online and found the OOP Imaginary Sonicscape which just came today.

Alrighty, then ... picture this if you will. 10 to 2 AM, X, Yogi DMT, and a box of Krispy Kremes, in my "need to know" pose, just outside of Area 51 Contemplating the whole "chosen people" thingy when a flaming stealth banana split the sky like one would hope but never really expect to see in a place like this. Cutting right angle donuts on a dime and stopping right at my Birkenstocks, and me yelping... Holy fucking shit! Then the X-Files being, Looking like some kind of blue-green Jackie Chan with Isabella Rossellini lips, and breath that reeked of vanilla Chig Champa Did a slow-mo Matrix descent Outta the butt end of the banana vessel And hovered above my bug-eyes, my gaping jaw, and my sweaty L. Ron Hubbard upper lip, and all I could think was: "I hope Uncle Martin here doesn't notice that I pissed my fuckin' pants." So light in his way, Like an apparition, [that] He had me crying out, "Fuck me It's gotta be the Deadhead Chemistry The blotter got on top of me Got me seein' E-motherfuckin'-T!"
And after calming me down with some orange slices and some fetal spooning, E.T. revealed to me his singular purpose. He said, "You are the Chosen One, the One who will deliver the message. A message of hope for those who choose to hear it and a warning for those who do not." Me. The Chosen One? They chose me!!! And I didn't even graduate from fuckin' high school.
You'd better... You'd better... You'd better... You'd better listen.
Then he looked right through me With somniferous almond eyes Don't even know what that means Must remember to write it down This is so real Like the time Dave floated away See, my heart is pounding 'Cause this shit never happens to me
I can't breathe right now!
It was so real, Like I woke up in Wonderland. All sorta terrifying I don't wanna be all alone While I tell this story. And can anyone tell me why Y'all sound like Peanuts parents? Will I ever be coming down? This is so real Finally, it's my lucky day See, my heart is racing 'Cause this shit never happens to me
I can't breathe right now!
You believe me, don't you? Please believe what I've just said! See the Dead ain't touring And this wasn't all in my head. See, they took me by the hand And invited me right in. Then they showed me something I don't even know where to begin.
Strapped down [to] my bed Feet cold [and] eyes red I'm out of my head Am I alive? Am I dead? Can't remember what they said God damn, shit the bed.
Hey ...
Overwhelmed as one would be, placed in my position. Such a heavy burden now to be the One Born to bear and bring to all the details of our ending, To write it down for all the world to see.
But I forgot my pen Shit the bed again ... Typical.
Strapped down [to] my bed Feet cold and eyes red I'm out of my head Am I alive? Am I dead? Sunkist and Sudafed * Gyroscopes and infrared Won't help, I'm brain dead Can't remember what they said God damn, shit the bed
I can't remember what they said to me Can't remember what they said to make me out to be the hero Can't remember what they said Bob help me! Can't remember what they said
[We] don't know, [and we] won't know (x12)
God damn, shit the bed!
