I'm just curious, s'all. My personal preferences go to hard rock and metal, though I am also quite fond of techno and electronica. There isn't really a genre I dislike, except for modern country and rap. Oh, and emo, of course. BLARGH.

mine lie towards noise-pop, folk, and that weird artsy hip-hop that most people have never really heard.
My favorite artists include Pavement, Add (N) to X, The Mountain Goats, Sole, The New Pornographers, Buck 65, Why?, The Flaming Lips, Devo, The Pixies, The Polyphonic Spree, and other bands that unfortunately few people are privy to enjoying.
To be fair though, my irony-sense tingles to the point that it's hard for me not to enjoy a lot of music. The only genres I can say I hate every song in is modern pop country (coincidentally, the one my particular corner of the United States holds on a pedestal higher than GOD HERSELF) and nu-metal (the Korns and Slipknots of the world).

Mostly video game music, though I also prefer classic rock (Pink Floyd, Rush, and Jethro Tull are my big favorites).

I mostly just listen to video game music, but I do have favorites from almost every genre possible (except for rap or hiphop, at least). I think it's the melody and instruments used in songs that matters to me the most.

at least I'm not hip-hop's sole defender, even if my tastes are a bit different than yours

I listen to anything that makes me feel good. But! If I had to choose I'd stick with my roots: hardcore punk, mariachi, and some hip hop. I was listening to Common's Like Water For Chocolate the other day and fell in love with it all over again. After that I had to listen to Dragonforce because nothing follows laid back hip hop better than ridiculously fast power metal.
Shadax: I saw the new pornographers a while ago when they came to Lawrence, KS. It was pretty boring. I have several friends and acquaintances who have the exact same taste in music as you. You'd all be best friends!

Mostly electronic, but I'm pretty omnivore when it comes to listening music. For the rap part: I really dig Italian 90's hip hop... A genre I hate?My pick is power metal.

I don't require a genre, as long as people aren't perpetually saying or yelling stuff at me. Also, would you people please stop mowing your lawns everyday and flying your airplanes over my house? If there are no or very few words, then I'd still have to hear something specifically to know whether I hated it or did not. Many times I can't even form a definite opinion on a single music-producing-person-or-persons. I recall trying something identified by a rom site as Albert Odyssey (just because "Albert" seems like a totally inappropriate name to accompany an epic-suggesting label like "Odyssey"), which I could not progress at, because I could not read its text which demanded to be read. However, I did like the music that played during the player's movement round of the only battle I could get to, so I sought and found the spc collection, listened to them all, and just about hated all the ones I hadn't already heard. Anyway.

You'd all be best friends! Actually, my social circle has a pretty diverse taste in music. I'm more of the noise-pop guy, and I live with the punk guy, shortly after moving out with the death metal guy and the power metal girl. we all have overlapping musical tastes, but we each fill out a seperate niche. We are like a Coke commercial. Oddly enough, I think the only thing we can all agree on is Rhapsody and Dragonforce.

Mainly all kinds of techno and electronica: Air, Daft Punk, Infected Mushroom, Prodigy, Tantra and more. Sometimes a bit of rock: RHCP, Alice Cooper, Eagles, Anouk and more.
Oh and S.S.H ^^

I LOVE Rhapsody, they're just so good that I can't find any single flaw in them! I don't like rap if it doesn't have any good tune to it, maybe that's why I love Quarashi. As for video game music: Frank Klepacki, Toshikazu Tanaka, and Nobuo Uematsu are my favourites, but I think most people on this board like those guys...Well, except for Frank Klepacki, but his work really is great!
