That's basically human nature in a nutshell.

That reminds me of something that also pisses me off... The News!
I know the negative and flashy stuff is more popular and will get you far more viewers, but why can't they tell more good stories too? I know the world isn't all dark and depressing day after day, but if you watch the news, you might start to feel like it is.

That's partially the reason I only watch the news in cycles. I really can't take much of the infighting and problems the news seems to bring up. It leads to me being behind with the news though.

Yeah. I tend to let my Mom catch me up since she watches it and it doesn't make her too gloomy. But I get behind too.

Yeah, it's the same even with comedy news. I love watching The Colbert Report, but I get sick of hearing about all the crazy shit going on in the world. I have to take it in spurts to avoid getting too depressed.

Currently reading 100 People Who Are Screwing Up America, and it is pissing me off to high-hell. Seriously, some of the most vile, reprehensible people are on this list. Luckily, there's the random points where the author went overboard and I don't truly believe an individual deserved to be on the list, like MJ. Offers the respite from all the anger.

Ok I gotta ask where that is. Sounds like an interesting read at the least for later tonight.

Grueling 6-hour job interview marathons for technical positions.
Seriously, guys, engineers! They're introverts! How do you expect them to have anything useful to say past hour 4?

The school caring about my personal life. Okay, if I came to school drunk 9/10 days, I could understand, but fuck, why do they need to know how much I exercise each week or what I'm doing to better my mental health?
Nevermind if I don't hand in a book about my work experience and community involvement I don't fucking graduate. And it's not like a terrible student or anything either, everyone has to do this! What a joke.

thethird: This is where I will point out that, at least in the US, so possibly in Canada as well, parents are letting the schools parent more often than not. That being the case, you get stupid things like this.

Yeah, they want to ensure their students and potential graduates are of 'high caliber' socially, mentally, physically, etc.
I'm intending to apply to university in several years once I pick up credits that I never got in highschool and pay off a loan. I fear I'll have problems getting accepted. My only advantage, I suppose, is 5 years as a member of a youth military program that I excelled in. Got me some good references. My work experience is horrid. I moved a lot between cities because of school.

This is probably cold comfort, if any comfort at all, but if your school actually does care about your mental health, then maybe they won't be quite so ignorant about it as they were back in the 90s.
I remember that, after my school found out I was taking meds, I got moved into the "late immersion" class, which was pretty much doublespeak for kids with either learning or behavioural problems, so as to keep them from disrupting the other students. Meanwhile, the meds I was taking were actually for depression and OCD related anxiety... thanks for asking about that before dumping me into the problem student class, which is a terrific goddamn environment for a depressed kid with OCD to be spending a significant portion of his time for a year.
