So you're an Objectivist, I see. Hey, that's a terrible thing to say about anyone. - HC

I will never get tired of bitching about Objectivists. They love to talk like they're so goddamn intelligent, and the world would shrivel and die without them. Except they're usually unemployed college dropouts who live with mommy and daddy, and spend 99% of their time dicking around on forums. Here's some good news concerning politics, too. I just read an article on Yahoo that said that people are stupid and have the attention span of gnats.

You know what I hate? Homoeopathic "medicine." Get that trash out of our pharmacies! Today, I was counting a pharmacy out in the sticks, and there were just rows upon rows of this crap, along with books and brochures... and it's not like this junk was relegated to the vitamin wall as it would be in most drug stores, it was right out in front of the dispensary right next to the real medicine. The Q-ray bracelets were elsewhere, but it would have only been fitting if they were right there beside all these pseudo-medical placebo bullshit. Now sure, anyone who goes back a few pages in this thread can hear me claim that meditation was the thing that helped me most through a particularly unstable period in my life, and I honestly do feel that this is one of many things that people can do to enrich their lives and feel a little bit better in the day to day, but let me be perfectly clear on this. I am absolutely not advocating anyone use meditation as a replacement for proper medicine. That's to say, medicine which, at the very least, has been verified by science to do what it's supposed to do most of the time. (let me also say that if I knew then what I know now, things would have been different) This is what pisses me off about homoeopathy, it's not just that it doesn't work, or that it's based on crackpot pseudo-science which has been proven false time and time again... it's that people are actually encouraged to take this worthless garbage instead of real medicine. While I'm at it, fuck the Q-ray. I hate that thing. It's just a worthless wad of copper... no "ionizing" properties whatsoever... and you point this out to people wearing one and they just say "well, whether it's all in my head or not... it works." No it fucking doesn't! Fuck the q-ray, fuck anyone who advocates the piece of crap. And if anyone here is a q-ray believer, well, I've got some self esteem tonic you might like to buy. It's made from all natural ingredients, from an old African recipe. Just a teaspoon with every meal and you'll feel better about yourself after about a week. Make the payments to my offshore account... cash only. I just hate politics. I used to really care, until I just kind of stopped. I have no pride for my, or any other, country. I live for me and no one else. I know the feeling. It's really, really hard to care for any stretch of time. In fact, a lot of the people who want us to be engaged (media, activists, politicians themselves) are the ones who make it hard to care.

I wish America had some actual left-wing parties instead of some big center-right-to-extreme-right mess. Maybe people would actually get more interested.

Fabien: We probably have them, but it's only the most hardcore ones that get shown. Seriously, if you have two protests in the same day, and one is five-hundred people and the other is twenty-thousand, and the one with 500 riots, you won't hear anything (except maybe a blip if you're REALLY lucky) about the 20,000 one and how they behaved and protested peacefully. It's a crock of shit, honestly.

And it is totally and utterly annoying. Show good stories more often too! Actually, I once looked for a newsite that only showed positive stories. I found one. Too bad they want you to PAY to view it.

We've got something nice in France. During electoral periods, newspapers, TV and radio stations are required by law to strictly balance appearances by all representatives of all parties engaged in the public debate, however marginal. Of course the main rotten parties are still far ahead in the public consciousness and this is not enough to make a difference. It's pretend-equality but maybe it's better than nothing.

I don't recall which news site it was. I just remember thinking "What bull! Why do I have to pay for good news!?"

Today I met this drunken guy on a bus. After bit of gibberish, he introduced himself and I introduced myself (and shaked hands. Thats automatic for me). Then he started blabbing something about "fighting for ten years" and asking who I was. I said I consider myself a normal human and then he told that I'd soon find out. Then I asked has he found the answers and he said "Yes. Want to know them?" to which I answered "Naw. I'll find out myself." Then he got off to bus, mumbled something to me which I said "Take care" to which he answered "Keep on fighting. Sieg Heil". Thats when it all hit me and I understood what he meant.
So yeah. I regret even looking at him, let alone that I shaked his damn hand.

That sucks... I'd feel bad almost sympathising with someone like that, but the thing is I also wouldn't want to offend them, so I'd probably just smile and nod.
We have a family friend who's a bit racist, he watches too many American news programs and thinks that "The Black Man" is trying to replace "The White Man" and crap like that. I just say "Oh yeah, that's cool" "I agree" spicing it up a bit with my own thoughts there too, to avoid being a total sell out.
But I TOTALLY disagree with his opinions.
