I think we're all hypocrites from time to time, but goddamn if it isn't aggravating when other people do it.
The one that sticks in my mind was trying to talk to this woman at work in what I thought was a reasonable tone, a little excited perhapts, but in an upbeat way, and she completely spazzed out at me and started literally screaming "CHILL OUT!" at the top of her lungs, while waving her arms around, then stomped off in a rage.
I just sat there stunned. I don't think I've ever seen a more blatant disregard for self-contradiction, and I don't think I ever will again.

Yeah, I suppose there's that.
It's a bit different, though, because anti-homosexual laws piss me off in regardless of what senators do in their own bedrooms. That, and I find it a lot worse when I'm in the same room with someone, and could technically point out their hypocrisy to them, except that doing doesn't do anything other than make them get all defencive. I think it's the fact that I really ought to just bite my tongue that pisses me off more than anything.

Meanwhile, there's a 50% divorce rate.

Don't get me started on how this whole country was supposedly founded out of a desire for religious freedom, but everyone has to follow the laws dictated by one particular religion here, whether you subscribe to its beliefs or not.

Dammit Atma, how are we supposed to form the US into a unified ball of arrogant bigotry now?
Currently, what's really pissing me off is the ongoing oil rig explosion disaster. It boggles my mind that apparently nobody ever considered when designing those things about what they would do if one of them exploded. It seems to me that when you build a giant machine pumping a highly flammable substance deep out of the earth, one of the first things you should ask yourself is "what will we do if this shit explodes?"

Well, that, in the general, actually is the sort of religious freedom the puritan settlers had in mind.

You know, people love to talk shit about how we do things in America, but just think: we could be burning our daughter-in-laws over ransom money like in India, or mutilating our wives' genitalia with broken coke bottles (or other fucked up practices I'm not going to mention for fear of death).

The oil disaster makes me sad. I want to cry when I see all those pictures of birds covered in oil.
Also god damn it, I wanted a salmon crêpe and couldn't get one because of the oil spill. It sounded sooo good too.

Yeah, but I'd rather be upset. Otherwise, how will I justify this NIN collection?

"But other places are worse!" isn't a good excuse, it's just a lazy way of justifying bad behaviour.
