Depends on what you consider waste to be. I'd say taking in thousands of calories more than you need is more wasteful than not eating food at all, but it might just fall down to preference there.

We definitely eat way more than we should as a nation, but the US produces way more food than we can even consume and yet a lot of it ends up wasted. Granted, there's no good way to distribute all of it, but it's kinda mind boggling. I have a lot of problems with our food industry here in the states, fat people only being a very small part of that.

It's a toss up, in my opinion. The daily existence of the super fat is defined by the wasting of resources. I see your point, but that just worries me more than pisses me off. Also, being in the same room as someone who eats a lot has never given me acute sinusitis.

Apparently, sometime in my life life I really fucked up my back, because for the longest time now I simply cannot sit in any way that's not straight up in a chair without getting really, really sore in my shoulderblades. This makes just sitting down and reading, or playing a handheld game extremely uncomfortable after about 20 minutes because I tend to lean down so I don't have to hold up a book or a DS up to my face to see it. It's gotten so bad that just sitting on my big-cushioned couch that after a half hour or so my back starts to really hurt. I was playing Other M for the first time today and I had to stop after two hours because it just got too uncomfortable. I just turned eighteen! I'm still young! I shouldn't have back problems! AGH I've had back problems of some sort since almost as long as I can remember. I dunno if that's just from having to lug a ton of heavy books to and from my school when I was a kid so that I could do the 2-3 homework problems at the end of each section, or if it's just chronic stress. In any case, I've developed pretty crappy posture over time. That's why I support schools buying smaller textbooks, especially since I've never covered all the content in any pre-college history or geography textbook.

I think my back problems stem from carrying a bunch of heavy books in a backpack for years too.....which is just rage-inducing because I hardly ever used them.
Also, Atma, in comparison to your back/spinal problems I shouldn't bitch. That just sounds straight up awful. Sorry to hear that :/
....but now for more bitching.
Second day of classes! Somehow lost my assignment sheet and list of things I have to read by the second class for English! Am now totally panicking! Feel like an idiot!
Not a good start to my first year of university, oy vey.

Nah, bitch all you want, I know how it feels to want to just whip my spine out and straighten it out some days. Mine's probably hereditary, so not much I could do there. Swearing feels good and helps lower pain.

More of these goddamned sinus headaches. I almost always end up passing out from them, and always during classes. It's horrible.
I'd been getting them on the weekend while working, which I might have assumed was due to dehydration, but I got them worse today despite having had more to drink.
Then again the fact that I've had these on-and-off for about 4-5 years now makes me think that it's more of an acute problem.

I third (heh) the backpack + heavy books = sucky back theory. I never used a locker in high school, so I lugged everything with me all of the time, and it didn't do my back any favors. But that doesn't bother me as much as my neck these days, thanks to some guy rear-ending me four years ago, totaling my car and making my head smack the steering wheel so fast I didn't even realize that I did so. XD I'm still a bit bitter about the whole thing.

I just read about the City of Bell controversy. That is so extremely disheartening. I almost broke down right now when I read the little entry on wiki once you get past all the controversy.
"The City of Bell is a tiny town covering 2.5 square miles (6.5 km2) near Los Angeles, with a population of approximately 36,000.[80] Bell is one of the poorest cities in Los Angeles County. Slightly more than half of its citizens are foreign born, and the per capita income is about $24,800. Roughly 90% of residents are Latino; almost 65% have no high school diploma. Mom-and-pop businesses, auto shops, markets, carnecerias, and panaderias dominate the streets of the small town.[20] Bell's unemployment level is 16%. Roughly 17% live in poverty.[81] Many said they were forced to look for jobs in neighboring cities or struggle by on part-time work.[20]"
That last entry just kinda made it real that people, human beings were being affected by this, this disgrace. This supreme injustice. I really hope something gets done about it fast.

Sadly, I don't think the "Governator" cares too much about this issue. He is too busy trying to ban video games and messing up the state payroll for federal employees.

God, when I think of all the stuff that gets ignored do to 'important' issues like video game violence it infuriates me. Seriously, it's one of the least important things that any government should be involved. I'd like to summon government officials who deal with video game bans and charge them with wasting government resources.

Anybody that tries to put more litigation and restriction on my number one hobby is automatically not a very nice person. Why video games? Surely there's worse things out there, like internet porn... =P

I saw a sign today in Newport that said "PORN HURTS EVERYONE." Next time I go there I'm gonna get me photo next to it.

1. People who don't think before they talk. 2. People who don't have manners or show respect. 3. People who try to pass off knowing more when they obviously don't.
