People who are in charge of making sure something runs in an organized and timely manner, but do not or cannot. I hate having to be an underling watching this happen and not being able to really say anything.

When people start a phone call with "Yeah I just called you to..."
No. Just begin by saying whatever it is you need to say. You do not need to tell me that you called -- I *know* that you called me because I am talking to you ON THE PHONE.

Annoying-ass, rude, asshole neighbors who just LOVE to slam their doors shut.

Annoying-ass, rude, asshole neighbors who just LOVE to slam their doors shut. Or the kids next door who like slamming the heavy metal gate outside their house. Occasionally on their fingers, which adds more noise as I am forced to listen to them cry at the top of their lungs for roughly an hour. Okay, I get the idea that it hurts, but geez, run inside and run cold water on it or something!

Even from a guy who is not the biggest animal lover, that seems remarkably ignorant. Punishing dozens of animals by death because of a poor business decision? Ugh.

Why... why why why can't America just bit the bullet and adopt the metric system already? Sure, there might be some growing pains, but can you not see as clear as day the benefits of a base 10 system of measurement?
Why do the sane among us have to put up with all this nonsense about feet and pounds and bullshit? I've been dealing with this for decades, I'm sick of it.
Also, the world should learn to to measure temperature in Kelvin. We'll all be better off.

Did a grumpy old man just enter the room?

No, the grumpy old men are the ones who refuse to change, even when the old way is ass backwards and a better system is right under their noses.

No, the grumpy old men are the ones who refuse to change, even when the old way is ass backwards and a better system is right under their noses. Better by who's definition? A resident of another country, where metric is standard? To be clear, I agree that it would be much better for the entire world to use one set of measurement standards, as well as one currency. Still, America has zero incentive to change. My day-to-day life as an American is not negatively impacted in the slightest by a lack of metric standards.

Personally, I'd love to see the US adopt the metric system. It's a superior system, so why not use it? Switching to the metric system has no downside whatsoever other than the population that grew up learning the American system needing to spend a few days relearning some commonly used numbers such as speed limits and the like.

I remember my days in elementary school, where they swore American would go metric in the next decade. Then I think they realized how many thousands upon thousands of road signs that would need to be replaced, and gave up.

Reminds me of the story my physics teacher used to tell the class whenever anybody asked why we had to learn imperial, about how NASA and another organization ruined a billion-dollar project because they forgot to convert.
"One day, one of you might be part of a team doing the math to send a shuttle full of high explosives to destroy an asteroid on a collision course on Earth, and it's very important that someone on that team knows the units"

I love the metric system because all you have to do to convert between "something the size of my fingernail" and "something the size of my city" is move a decimal point over a few places. Except in temperature. There are only 3-4 different scales for temperature and for telling the weather outside I like using the fahrenheit system due to a higher precision in the units place compared to celsius. Kelvin's ok though, I guess. Now, if only we could do something similar for time. I always mess up converting between time units
