Ryzuki, one of these days when you're done with uni you'll realize Japan ain't all that one way or another and it's probably not a really good idea to go live there. All the cultural posturing you might be sensing will be disproven and if you're not ready to face facts like that, you're gonna be pretty bitter about it. Yeah yeah i know, i'm not blind. I was part-way joking about my last post. Japan is a country, not a resort, i get that. I don't plan on living there. I plan to visit some day once i learn how to speak and read japanese like i do english. Depending on how much i like it there, i may stay for a week, or for years. I'm not geting my hopes up. And even if i end up hating the place (which i doubt) at least i know japanese.

I'm pissed at hollywood, congress, etc. Fuck this occupy Wall Street, we need armed riots and purges. That internet blacklist thing is p much going to pass because the media lobbyists bought all of our elected representatives blowjobs or something. It's not like I advocate piracy, but I just hate how Hollywood likes to pass the buck and say they're losing money to piracy when at the root of things it's because every movie is a bolus of shit. THANK YOU!

HIGHLY AGREED. I'm sure nobody at Congress even gives a shit about Twitter and Youtube potentially going kaput because they're probably like "Huh? Twitube? Whazzat?"

I've been meaning to mention this one after hearing about ACTA for the first time, which pushed them beyond any forgiveness in my books. They whine about theft despite the fact that a) they're still making tons of money off the few movies that are any good or at least marketable (more in one month than most of us will in a lifetime) and b) they're the ones stealing our basic human rights away, not to mention the public domain. They're like some mean little shit who teases animals for fun and wonders why everything's dark, he can't feel his fingers anymore, stings and burns all over, and people say mean things to him. Also, what qualifies the government to regulate the Internet? They couldn't even produce a decent stream of yesterday's mostly one-sided hearing. You know something like this is a bad idea when even Justin Bieber is speaking out against at least one of these draconian proposals (the anti-streaming bill, in which his claim to fame could potentially make him political prisoner). No wonder Congress is the antonym of progress.

It always surprises me how many people are willing to give Hollywood a pass.
It's especially hypocritical since these days "Hollywood" means "Vancouver" 60% of the time.

Max Payne 3 is pissing me off even more with the latest video.
All that work on the animation, and you get the version of Max with an impressively animated trenchcoat for all of one level, and it's back to textured-on tank tops and shaved head again.
I hate video game character design these days. It all seems to be based around making the character as plain and boring as possible. Ezio's the only good one out of the lot.

I don't know, I'm beginning to like Old Man Payne. We've seen him in a few posters with a buttoned Hawaiian shirt that hopefully will look nice as well. Besides, it seems like they're purposefully trying to make Max look as depressing as hell for this game. We can't all age as gracefully as Snake it seems.
Which reminds me. I find it up setting that my friend had borrowed like 12 of my games, and as of me getting 6 of them back it turns out he's played thru like only 4 of them so far. And he has this nasty habit of asking me what he should do every once in a while in chat. Without screaming down his throat I always suggest whatevers appropriate for the time. Whenever I suggest one of the games I let him borrow though he never takes the option. It's like why did you even ask for them if you weren't going to play them. I'm nice enough to play through what he forces on me (even if it is going through the motions sometimes).
Also, it annoys me I can't hang out with a certain friend 'cuz of the dumbass company he keeps around. I mean when it's just some of his friends who are gamers he's cool. But whenever he gets his other friends with him he turns into a drunkard and basically follows their leads like stray dog.
Plus, cell phones. I mean when did it become socially acceptable to break off a real live conversation every 5 minute to respond to a phone call. You know what that tells me; it tells me that besides lacking manners you find the phone call more important than whats going on around you now. Also, just because it's related someone who hates online chatting 'cuz it's not "real interaction" yet spends half their day texting. That's it for now.

Well, I doubt Max Payne 3 would really work if he was running around with long feathered blonde hair and an ultra-tiny vest like Vaan from FF12. It would be funny, though. Especially if he was still fat, bald Max and it was just a wig.

A friend of mine has that same problem...what sucks is that he was set to be his best friend from highschool's best man, but then wasn't even a groomsman because his "friend" changed his mind a week before when some of his frat buddies were able to make it to the wedding. Go figure. Mostly I just got jerked around by people I was "friends" with, which is part of the reason I'm so antisocial.

Especially if he was still fat, bald Max and it was just a wig. The problem is that Vaan's costume was pretty damn boring, too. Plus, there's the fact that they showed Max dressed like he was in the second game, and the physics and animation looked awesome. The new design is just plane boring, like Cole and Drake.

I think you have a problem with guys that look like they fit in with the real world more than anything Gunheart, cause it's pretty hard to make guys that look like they fit in with the real world look especially eye catching (unless they're wearing a trenchcoat or something, or all noir'd up. which I personally think makes them look more dumb than anything). I'm just saying, cause I don't think I've ever seen you say anything good about the character designs in any game that takes place in modern Earth, except for MP1/2.
I think Drake's design is pretty nifty, personally. Gotta love that half-tuck! Although I agree that Cole's design is boooooring. Shaved heads are boring. In Old Man Max's case I think it's alright though, cause he looks like he kinda let himself go and I can appreciate that in a shooter protagonist cause I don't see many old and weary looking guys do slow motion dives while shooting people with uzis.

oh yeah, and all the bitching that people do about game reviews these days. I mean, on one hand it's kinda funny seeing people get all riled up about Skyward Sword getting a 7.5 or Uncharted 3 getting an 8, but it's also pretty sad and head-shake-worthy. do people really need validation for the games they like? or what? i don't really understand it. if they're grossly inaccurate, maybe, but otherwise it's pretty bizarre.

I think the bigger issue with Max Payne 3 is that it looks like it's going to suck. Seriously, adding a cover system to the game entirely misses the point of the Max Payne series: blowing away dudes in a hail of gunfire while using bullet time and stunt dives. How you go from stylish TPS action to hiding behind walls is beyond me, but it frustrates me to see the taint of modern gaming infect another classic series.

My problem with Drake is that he's a really stripped down Indiana Jones. Jones had the hat, the jacket and the whip. Drake? A shirt.
I also liked Rico from the Just Cause games, as well as Mathias from Mercenaries. But New Max? Seriously, I'll take Ninja Theory's Dante over that.

Have you watched this video, Snarboo? Perhaps it might alleviate some of your concerns.
I haven't played a Max Payne (i've played stranglehold though and they appear to be shockingly similar!) so maybe the shooting looks all wrong, though.
