I usually don't tag Japanese music with "J" at the start, because I don't see the point in singling out one nation when I could really call Aerosmith "US-Rock". NWOBHM and NWOAHM are both genres. New Wave of British and American Heavy Metal, respectively.

The sheer amount of touhou fan albums (well over a thousand at this point) bothers me. I appreciate that other people appreciate the series and ZUN's music, and that ZUN has basically given them a free pass to sell such doujin work (whereas doing, say, a Final Fantasy album is legally shaky), but it's the same <100 songs being remixed over and over and over and over and over.

Shows how much I actually know about music I guess, I find it funny how the term "NWOBHM" still exists as the bands that came out then are hardly new at all now.

I can't stand it when people chew with their mouth open. I HATE MOSQUITO BITES!! going to somebody's house and it smells like piss. When people think you are weird for talking to them. And people who act like douche-bags to be "cool". yeah, my stuff is really minor..

People's houses smells like piss? Sometimes my room smells like piss, because the cats litterbox is on the same floor (I sleep in the basement), but I can just clean it out in that case.

That said, if you want good hip-hop from this decade, you need to look at the underground. Or even nerdcore. MadWorld's soundtrack has proven to me that there still exists kickass hip-hop today. I... don't really have anything else to say pertinent to the topic title. Erm... random thunderstorms piss me off? Yeah, I've got nothing.

The rampant stupidity that runs free on the Internet (people on Youtube/Myspace/4Chan etc...)
HDTV (it's slightly better than normal TV, but not $1000+ better. I DON'T EVEN WATCH TV. 0_0 )
Elitism in all the various subcultures (HEY FANBOYS! ALL THE SHIT YOU KNOW ABOUT STAR WARS AND ANIME AND STUFF, Y'KNOW THE STUFF YOU THROW AROUND TO SEEM "COOL" AT CONS? REALITY CHECK: IT'S ALL USELESS TRIVIA, AND KNOWING IT MARKS YOU LESS AS FANS AND MORE LIKE CONSUMER WHORES WHOSE ONLY OBSESSION IN LIFE IS A PRODUCT).
My job. I don't even wanna talk about it. It is slightly above whoring my man tits out to hobos, but that's about all it has going for it.
Modern day music, especially pop (I guess after the 90's everybody kinda just said "FUCK PRODUCTION VALUES AND WELL THOUGHT OUT MELODIES AND LYRICS, WE HAVE SEX AND A CRACKED COPY OF REASON!")
People who try and write poetry and have no idea what the fuck they're even talking about (I seriously saw a forum sig before that said "The road to madness is paved with the wings of angels". WTF!? Any way you dissect that, it's meaningless goth bullshit designed to add pseudo-depth to a person who has none. ) We should find all pregnant emos and goths and initiate OPERATION INFANT GENOCIDE.
I could go on, but I hate damn near everything, because I'm a jaded asshole. So I'll end here. :3
EDIT: As far as hip-hop goes, if it isn't by Dre or Schooly D/DJ Code Money, I don't care about it.

Okay, it drives me nuts how people view elitism as some terrible thing. People who are passionate about something-- a hobby, for example-- will no doubt try to learn everything there is to know about it. Putting down "elitists" is essentially putting down people for loving something too much; that they should be following someone else's rules, someone else's likes and dislikes. Elitism might as well be a sign of our humanity-- that we aren't just herds of animals with no opinions or passions.
... I was under the impression we were considered elitists here. After all we joined an internet forum to talk about video games, because we know a lot and love 'em. LOL yeah those pointless time wasting, blip-booping pictures on a TV that rot your brain! What tools we are, talking about and devoting our precious time to products!
Stupid elitism, let's all just concentrate on being productive and throw our humanity in the garbage.

That's just being a fan to me, albeit a fairly obsessive one. I always associated elitism with being a holier-than-thou, pompous dickwad about it.

I agree - elitism is a blight on fandom because these "I'm clearly superior to you" jerks who are convinced they did everything first, fastest, and with a signed limited edition only serve to sour the mood and put off any enthusiastic but inexperienced newcomers.
A fan is just somebody who has a passion and chooses to follow it.

Lemme see if I can draw this out: Me___________the point I was making__________You Yeah, way past it man. What I mean by elitism, is that you don't treat others like shit when they don't know something right? If so you're not "elitist". You're confusing "knowledge and passion" with being a "self righteous dickhead".

But doesn't the self-righteous jerk part come with the knowledge? Nah, just kiddin'. I see what you all mean, although I still think it's possible to be elitist without having to criticize others or be mean. I've always understood the connotation of the word to be "knowledge and passion" simply because that's always going to be a trait of an elitist. Any old schmo can be a "self righteous dickhead." Don't need a lick of intelligence to pull that off.

When I tell people to just call me "Jave" and they adamantly insist on using my real name, even though they cannot, and will never be able to actually pronounce it properly. You think I just made up the name Jave because I thought it sounded cool?
I get it, I'm an anglophone with a French name, which probably seems weird, but seriously, after twenty-odd years of putting up with this shit, I've had it. Either say it right, or don't say it at all!
