I know a lot of people are using their PSPs to play this game, and I feel like giving it a run-through again. Is there a way I can play it on my 2000-series PSP slim without hacking it?

Without hacking? Man, I wish! Unfortunately there is no other way.

I know jack all about hacking this thing, so I was hoping I wouldn't have to take that route. Oh well.

I'm the same way, and I have a 1000. I quickly glanced into the procedure, and it looks like a major pain in the ass to me.

It's just not as easy as a 2000 can be to hack, although you don't need the Pandora. Ike, btw, while it's well worth it to hack your psp, check your serial to see if it's even possible first; I ended up buying one of the later 2000's only to find out it was unhackable (although a quick return took care of that).

It's a 2001 series, so it should be okay. I think.

It's a 2001 series, so it should be okay. I think. IIRC, if it was one of the "package" ones that came out by or before the God of War set (with exception to the blue Madden ones, which are hit or miss), you should be ok. When I get home I'll try to pull up some links. Anyway, if it's possible, you definitely should mod it, it's cheap, easy, and a great way to catch up on 16 bit games.

I bought it used, so I have no idea as to its production date.
Honestly, I'm more concerned about getting some PS1 games on there than anything else. I have a huge backlog of them and my HDTV is not kind to them at all, so I'd like to play them at work.

I have one from the Daxter bundle. How hack friendly is that?

If you feel comfortable mailing a complete stranger (me) a battery and a memory stick duo >128mb, I'd be happy to set everything up for any of you dudes. Once you get the stuff back you basically just have to pop the stick in, slap in the battery, and hit X a couple of times. Procedure = done. (well ok, you'll still have to convert your battery back to normal. That's incredibly easy, too) I have one from the Daxter bundle. How hack friendly is that? Works super great (it's the one I wound up buying). AFAIK, any PSP-2000 in a bundle is friendly while more recent PSP-2000s outside of the bundle are not. Haven't tested that theory, but I haven't seen any reason to distrust it.

Yeah, you should definitely hack it. I have almost 100 already modded Playstation games for it and they play very nicely on it. There's also homebrew that lets you take screenshots and such, so it's great for writing reviews too.

There's also homebrew that lets you take screenshots and such, so it's great for writing reviews too. Easily one of the biggest reasons to mod, for me. PSPstates is also a really neat project (save states in my PSP games? GTFO!) and you just can not mess with the legitimate advantages of running games off of a memory stick (quieter operation, longer battery life, quicker load times).

Sweet Christ...the ability to play the translated ROM of Innocent Sin on a PSP? Be still, my beating heart! Hmm. I have a ton of PS1 games already, though. If I were to mod my PSP, would I have to track down ROMs for all the bastards? Or is there some way to convert legit releases into something the PSP can use?

You can convert your own PS1 games into a PSP-readable format, and it's a fairly straightforward process. I use it a lot, the PSP is a great way to catch up on my PS1 games (and being able to put them to sleep whenever I like is a godsend).
