Sweet, sweet Mercs! I was a fan of Commando arcade, too, but 3-player Merc cabinets owned me. Is Ikari/Heavy Barrel next on the agenda?

This was left in the commando article:
(EN: He devised a lot of other adjectives alongside "completely," but I just thought they sounded like overkill. You can keep them in if you wish.)

Mercs > Commando
I like Commando too though. The original AC version was just a little super hard.

Yeah, that was not exactly proper grammar, but I was obviously just trying to emphasize the point. Anyway, nice to see this go up.

I didn't intend for you to see that editor's note, so I hope there's no raw feelings.

"The Commodore 64 saw a bootleg port that looks like crap, but actually plays relatively well. " Err,the C64 version was an official conversion. And trust me,it plays much worse than it looks,it has more bugs than an anthill and it has only three levels so it lacks any lastability. The conversion was did by a software house called Elite, specialized in half-assed conversions ( Paperboy,Ghosts'n Goblins,Bomb Jack and 1942 among others ).Needless to say,it was hugely popular back then. But for some reason is hugely popular among Commodore fans..in fact is so popular that I think of C64 Commando as the most overrated 8-bit game ever.On the other hand the ZX port looks pants but plays a treat. That said,I'm a huge fan of Commando but I've never been particularly keen on Mercs for some reason. By the way, here's Commando's C64 box scan, taken from Lemon64:

Nice article. I actually liked the Commodore 64 port, and its music. There's a couple of things in the article that I want to point out:
Intellivision is misspelled and there's a space missing after some of the slashes. Also, wasn't there a crappy PC port of Commando? The article's font size suddenly changes to smaller right after the "mercs-genesis1.png" screenshot. If you're interested in adding any blatant Commando rip-offs in the article, there's the Who Dares Wins games, at least.

Let it be known to one and all that I have completed NES Commando, all 16 levels, without continuing. Flear me!
A couple of additions: there are plenty of secret passages in the NES version, including some booby-trapped ones. One of the secret rooms is called the Gas Room, and if the player can't grenade open the hidden exit before a timer runs out he dies instantly. Also, there's a powerup that increases grenade blast range that comes in very handy, and finding every prisoner in a level (including those in secret passages) is worth a huge score bonus.

Me and my brother played Mercs for countless hours back in the Genesis days. Such an outstanding 2 player game.

It's chess-speak. Don't worry. I had to look it up, too: Shinigami thought he had finished the level, when he was suddenly fleared by a stray machine gun bullet.
