www.hardcoregaming101.net/monkeyisland/monkeyisland.htmThis is very much Not Done, but I wanted to post this up here because I've been working on it on and off for the past three months. It's fairly lengthy, since I love the games and there's a lot of stuff to cover. Anyway, the intro's not done, and the characters section isn't formatted. The MP3s aren't up either. Plus it's going to be almost instantly outdated when the new Tales of Monkey Island episodes are released, but I'll definitely be playing and updating this side by side.

Watch out for that Threepwood misspelling.

You should mention the (notorious) Mix'n'Mojo wheel, that made running MI2 nigh impossible if you didn't have it. It was a coded paper wheel that you needed to install the game. I still own the 3.5 discs, not that they'll do me much good nowadays.

At least 3.5 inch disks are easy to find USB drives for. I found both Monkey Islands at a yard sale for dirt cheap (with those notorious wheels), but I passed because they were on *gasp* 5.25 inch disks.

Yeah, ScummVM surpasses that protection. The files on the discs could be encrypted in a cryptic format, though. Watch out for that Threepwood misspelling. Wouldn't it be cool if the article used another mispronounciation from the games each time he is mentioned? (and, for good measure, replaced also half of the "Guybrush"s with those variations, since that is used much more often so far)

Fun note: Stan's shirt is the most technically impressive effect in Monkey Island 4, and is still admirable today. The fact that the developers could make a model that was partially textured with a chroma-key to reveal a plaid background...I still don't know how it's POSSIBLE.

I only recently played the fourth episode and the article reflects the sentiments of me and many others about it: not a bad game, but much, much weaker than its predecessors in every single aspect. The new episodic series has taken a fair share of criticism for the interface and the graphic style, but most comments I read also salute it as a return to the spirit of the first two episodes. I'm looking forward to it - I also loved the third episode but back then, I felt it already lost something on the way.

Doesn't it ask you for the answer every time you boot up the game? Also, I swear I've read that Giblert had a story planned for after :Lechuck's Revenge, but never got to it, and it went the way of the Loom Sequels.

Reminds me of pretty much any Shaft anime ever. Still, an interesting effect. I have a few ides of how it could be done -- at least in a 2D game.

Just one. In the characters section. You misspelled Threepwood as Theepwood.

^Aw, poor Mr. Threapword. No one can quite get his name right. Also, another typo: When talking about Slappy Cromwell in the CoMI section, "forty-five minute review" should actually be "revue" in this case. Fantastical article overall!

I love the Monkey Island series with all of my soul and being. That being said, I enjoyed it (so far) like everything else you post. Great job.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that there are quite a few spelling errors within the article, but since it's not even completed yet I'll save that for one it's supposed to be 'completed'.

I'm pretty sure anyone on this site has a solid idea of the 2D concept, except Monkey Island's graphics were 3D!

Well, I didn't include this in today's update because it wasn't QUITE done. It still isn't, but it's much more complete now - the characters section is now formatted, complete with the evolution of the major characters throughout the games, and the fourth chapter (which was released last week) of Tales of Monkey Island is covered. It's not quite copy edited but it is spell checked, at least. I still need to figure out an intro and do some of the various jokes for the end, though.
